This is dangerous and stupid to be saying these things publicly. A global health crisis could be and should be a unifying crucible where we all come together as a species and work for the common good. This insistence on choice and individual rights in dealing with a deadly pandemic is not only ridiculous, it is deadly. And it’s going to get worse.
Here is what the governor of Florida has to contribute to disinformation and folly today.

He had a police officer with COVID air lifted out of his state and taken to another state for treatment just this week because there were no ICU beds in Florida but no, it doesn’t impact the governor or anybody else. How would you think that? The billions of dollars in medical care that COVID-19 has cost, unnecessarily, because people won’t get vaccinated, who’s picking up that check? And that doesn’t affect us? And the children who are left orphaned because their parents didn’t get vaccinated? You recall the recent case in Texas where a man with three kids and a pregnant wife got the virus and died because he thought it was all a hoax. That woman and her four kids are likely going to end up on welfare, and it’s a given that they’re completely traumatized, but this doesn’t affect DeSantis or “anyone else” he wants us to know.
The lasting effects that COVID has on some people, affecting the organs of their bodies the rest of their lives, that doesn’t impact Ron DeSantis. He doesn’t care. Apparently the way he sees it, you’re in it for yourself. You want to do the sane thing and get a shot, bully for you but he’s not going to encourage that when he can make the whole thing into a culture war talking point and gain votes. He thinks.
I appreciate the logic in the thread above, wearing a mask or getting vaccinated to contain the spread of a deadly airborne virus doesn’t affect the governor or anybody else, but somebody getting an abortion affects them deeply. That’s going to have a greater effect on a person’s life than getting COVID and possibly carrying the after affects of it one’s entire life. Let’s have a total hands off on the airborne virus and absolute control over the abortion, to the point where people in the State of Texas are now essentially deputized as vigilantes to hunt down doctors performing abortion, as Justice Sotomeyer noted in her dissent.
This is government of the insane, for the stupid, and by the deluded. This is not logical at all. If there’s any hope for Florida, they will vote this bum out.
People who have recovered from COVID (enough to be out walking around) have fewer antibodies than people who got vaxxed…and there’s no easy way to prove that you had it and have recovered.
This is the take I think we evolve into our messaging reaction.
There is a small group in our society who either cannot get the vaccine, or the vaccine isn’t enough protection for them. They are the immune compromised, the sick, people with cancer, and kids..many of those kids are people who fall into those other categories.
When I get vaccinated, I’m protecting them. Me getting vaccinated ABSOLUTELY IMPACTS THEM. I am acting as a shield to protect the most vulnerable amongst us. It is my duty to do so, and it is my honor to do so.
I am livid as a write this, something that my style of writing doesn’t convey well. We just got a call this morning – my business partner’s nephew, who is a disabled kid with health conditions, is sitting in urgent care with a 104 degree fever and COVID symptoms. We have no idea what will happen to him. He is the sweetest kid in the world, who in his ten years of life has undergone several dozen operations and faced tremendous challenges.
His life is in peril because the adults around him failed him, because they want to live in a society where their personal preferences outweigh the needs of others, and where they accept streets soaked in blood if it means getting a laugh at the expense of their political enemies.
This is what wickedness looks like, and that’s all I will say before o get too angry to be coherent.
I’m a political junkie, I understand red meat for the base voter.
There’s a tipping point, most independent voters are just blowing smoke they vote like they usually have… however
Incompetence is a bad look.
And its plain.
