I know white men can’t jump and supposedly white people can’t dance worth a damn, but this? When you are that bereft of rhythm and out of touch with your own body, then it is best to not call attention to that fact. It makes sense for Trump to be ridiculous but since Melania was once a model, you would think that she would be able to move a bit better. You would be wrong if you thought that. As a matter of fact, photographers who knew Mel back in the day used to say that that was her issue, she was too stiff and couldn’t move. That would throw somebody out of the high fashion bracket, because those gals are fluid and they glide through a photo shoot. This is not gliding. This is something that begs description. But that’s not the real story here. The real story is that neither one of them has said squat about the tragedy taking place in Texas today — but the White House releases this as “news.”

We are an unserious people. And whomever has control of the White House account(s) these days is misusing and abusing them. You saw that travesty from a few days ago where the Big Beautiful Bill was compared to the “Big Hairstyles” of the 1960’s? And that was done seriously, not meant as a parody. We live in a post parody world. There is nothing to satirize when you’re living inside the Jerry Springer show, 24/7, as we all are nowadays.
• At least 24 people died in Kerr County, Texas, after severe flooding inundated the area, County Sheriff Larry L. Leitha said today.
• Separately, Texas Acting Gov. Dan Patrick said more than 20 girls are unaccounted for at Camp Mystic, which is in Kerr County. He cautioned it “does not mean they are lost.”
• Widespread rainfall of 4 to 8 inches, with some reports of up to 15 inches, has fallen in south-central Texas since late Thursday evening, prompting multiple flash flood emergencies — the most severe form of flood warning.
• More heavy rain is possible into the evening as slow-moving storms stall over the same hard-hit areas.
Texas will be declared a national disaster area soon — and that’s granting for the sake of argument that FEMA or J.D. Vance or somebody can get it together to put wheels into motion. It is ridiculous that the White House is handling this situation the way that it is, but then again, look at the Occupant.
The rest of the world laughs at us now, but tonight they’re shaking their heads in disbelief and pity.

Well, sorry for the losses but Kerr County’s getting what it voted for. Just checked the Wiki page for the county and its politics, and it’s been nothing but RED since 1968. And the last three elections with Drumpf at the head of the GOP side of the ticket, the county’s gone for Drumpf with more than 75% each year. Between 2020 and 2024, there was an increase of only 425 total votes cast but Drumpf’s vote increased by 736 votes, the Democratic vote dropped by 209 votes and third-party/independents dropped by 102 votes which means essentially those 425 “new” votes went to Drumpf (736-209-102=425). So, again, sorry about the losses but, obviously, the “good” folks of Kerr County couldn’t care less. I’m sure they’ll really be unhappy if any of the losses are “their” people but if the losses only affect “those people,” they won’t be shedding any tears–except crocodile tears, of course.
I guess America finally got the government it deserved. I just don’t think we all deserved it. He told those fools at his rallies that he didn’t care about them more than once, and they decided he was joking. I wonder what excuses they’ll make for this indifference and all the ones yet to come when the effects of his signature piece of legislation finally begin to hit home.
No Gary, we didn’t all deserve it; we voted for Kamala and saw our votes become meaningless against the money and machinations of Musk on Trump’s behalf. Our system’s broken and may be beyond repair.
