Holy Polarization, Batman! The Libertarians are restless tonight, and D.C. is the jungle that you and I know it to be. The only question left is whether the fat orange wildebeest is going to take stage tonight and speak to a crowd that has already introduced a motion to the floor to “tell Donald Trump to go fuck himself,” and is now talking about him “talking a bullet.” This is not the milk of MAGA worship he’s used to. A memo is already circulating proposing a last-minute cancelation of Trump’s speech. Here’s what happened last night and it does not bode well for a savory Trump reception tonight.

You get the general vibe here, right? Well, it got a lot more hostile from there.

And here’s somebody who believes “Trump should have taken a bullet.”

I am watching this with bated breath. I think this Trump appearance may get canceled. Trump is not going to win over this crowd and I frankly question the wisdom of Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles even booking this gig. This is going downhill fast and has been for over 24 hours.

These are not Democrats, these are Libertarians. So you could consider them Independents. And yes, they are a group that Trump would love to have in his pocket, but that’s not even a remote possibility. Not at the rate things are going.

And now the chants of “Trump” are met with “booos” of equal volume.

If it was me, I’d pull the plug. This has all the earmarks of a riot in the making. Let’s look at the reality here: Trump can only speak to MAGA. He cannot take the podium in a room which isn’t already on his side. This room clearly is not. He should just stand down.

Although personally, I hope he gets on stage. Let him hear the boos himself. It will be good for him to feel how hated he is, first hand in a room of non-MAGAs. Trump lives in an oblivious bubble. If he didn’t, he would have gotten out of Dodge a long time.

    • I think this is a huge mistake. I don’t know what Team Trump was thinking. Donald needs to go home and rest up for Tuesday. But I hope he gets on stage. Let him hear the boos first hand.

    • They may get live footage of Trump having tomatoes thrown at him. This is not a MAGA crowd. They need to hustle him away where he can throw ketchup and be safe.

  5. So, was President Biden offered an opportunity to speak in front of the Libertarians?

    I don’t get why the Libertarian Party–especially (presumably), leading Party officials–would even extend an invitation to the presumptive nominee of one of the two major parties to address the group. Somehow, I don’t see the Libertarian Party nominee being offered the chance to speak in front of a major Republican Party event.
