This is a jewel. The Democrat doing the interview with Scott Bessent is the soul of decorum and good will. He is uber polite to Bessent. Which makes Bessen’s stammering and evasion even the more pronounced because he’s being asked very simple questions and in the most respectful manner.

There is no “legal guidance.” This isn’t even flying by the seat of your pants, this is flying blind. The part I love about it is that the questions are so simple and basic that Bessent looks bad because he simply does not have the answers.
And the last thing he’s going to do is fly in the face of Secretary Rubio. From the sound of this tape, the two of them barely speak, let alone on matters of this gravity.
Just more grist for the mill. The Trump administration bungles along extrajudically. Don’t expect that to change except to get worse.
Bessent is so far out of his own depth that it would be pitiable, were it not so blatantly crooked. Trump appoints incompetents to act as his “useful idiots” in his illegal dealings, and I suspect Bessent is only now realising just how much jeopardy he’s been put in.
