I am still having a difficult time digesting this. I have one 10 year old daughter, simply the light of my life, the thing that makes me want to be “good” – and I think of what it would be like to not know where she is, to have her taken from me, and then now, hearing that the Administration says that parents need get out, with or without children, with a promise to get the children to the parents once they are gone.
Excuse me, but, bullshit.
The Trump administration cannot count properly, as they demonstrated in their first acts as president. And yet, these migrants, already knowing they are hated, because they cannot even seek political refugee status, for the first time ever, are supposed to trust the Trump administration to get these kids back to them in El Salvador?
One things is for sure, the feds are withholding children as part of the deal with regard to giving up a right to seek asylum, a right that is guaranteed by both U.S. law, and international law.
WASHINGTON — After a court order to reunite more than 2,000 migrant children who were separated from their parents in May and June, the Trump administration has instructed immigration agents to give those parents two options: leave the country with your kids — or leave the country without them, according to a copy of a government form obtained by NBC News.
The new instructions to agents do not allow parents who were separated from their children under President Donald Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy to reunite with their children while they await a decision on asylum, a protection sought by thousands of migrant families fleeing violence in Central America.
It seems futile and naive to even point out that this president discusses that he is the law and order president but doesn’t give a shit about laws that he finds inconvenient, the hallmark of a dictator anywhere – as we’ve already discussed today.
These are people who qualify – possibly – for asylum, and yet the federal government is not just essentially, but factually, holding their children hostage until they give up that right.
Advocates say that even migrants who have already passed their initial asylum screenings are being presented with the form. “We are seeing cases where people who have passed credible fear interviews and have pending asylum claims are being given this form,” said Lee Gelernt, a lawyer with the American Civil Liberties Union who is leading a class action lawsuit for family reunification.
To our very loyal readers. This needs much more evaluation. I simply can’t right now. My eyes are watering, I can’t see. I can’t get MY daughter out of my mind, what I would feel if someone – anyone – took her from me, and the violent thoughts that would go through my head. I just can’t.

I can note this. In a very short time, less than a full year and a half, we have become a much more vicious and greedy nation. Discuss this matter, especially with people who support Trump, one of their great weaknesses is they are a herd, comfortable only when sure everyone agrees with them. When they hear from someone “like them” who will vehemently disagree and talk about “right and wrong” and facts, we can make strides, even one voter at a time.
