In Trump world the three most important legal strategies are delay, delay, and delay. Once again Aileen “Loose” Cannon has given Donald Trump’s lawyers another “win.” She signed an order Thursday overruling Special Master Raymond Dearie’s September 30 deadline for Trump to attest to what was seized at Mar-a-Lago. Cannon ruled Trump should have time to review 200,000 pages of seized documents, plus, she set a deadline of October 5, to obtain a document review vendor, when Monday would have been plenty of time.
It brings to mind the old gag, “good lawyers know the law, great lawyers know the judge.”
Legal experts were stunned and Cannon’s ears must be burning bigly.
This is a minor win for Trump’s team, because now they don’t have to essentially disavow their dubious claims that the FBI planted evidence.

Trump’s lawyers are going to have to do the actual work and Trump is going to have to sign off on it.
Cannon is basically jumping up and down on a scale that her Special Master is supposed to still own.

Maybe Cannon is a true believer. I initially thought that she was paying Trump back for him elevating her to the federal bench, now I think she might actually be a dyed in the wool MAGA.

We certainly knew it could happen here. We watched it happening. Moscow Mitch’s finest hour, according to himself, was blocking Obama’s supreme court nominee without even a hearing. That same Kentucky scumbag’s true finest hour of infamy was shoving Trump’s unqualified nominees through Congress and onto the highest court in the land. Meanwhile Trump was installing unqualified judges in too many courts to be counted by an inattentive media. That’s how it happened here.
In Kentucky’s defense, Yertle was born and raised in Alabama. We do, however, bear the shame of having elected him.
Friendly reminder for the easily panicked: this, in NO way, affects the 100 classified documents that were the whole point of this Special Master stunt in the first place. The rest are useless to helping either Trump or the DOJ, so who cares?
Cannon’s just throwing a hissy fit because she got humiliated. I’d also guess that she’s been informed by her Federalist Society handlers that she’s gone as far as she’s ever going in her legal career. Let her rage…it’ll just make people take a closer look at her.

Being so mean by making him follow the Special Master’s orders like any other person would have to do? He’s Trump! He’s NEVER had to follow the rules and the law so he can’t be expected to now! He can take ALL the time he wants to respond. Maybe someday he will at least say he needs more time. And my official ruling is he gets whatever he wants. (Oh, and Mr. Trump? Judge Cannon really wants to be disbarred. She is working very hard for that.
DOJ will.appeal. They will win again. The appeals court will continue to shred Loose Cannon. Donnie’s team will take it to the FL Supreme Court and lose and will appeal.to the Supremes. I suspect SCOTUS will refuse to hear it. Rinse, Repeat.
