Remember the famous train wreck scene in The Greatest Show On Earth, the scene that fueled the imagination of a young Steven Spielberg? That level of train wreck is taking place in Trump world as we speak. Everything is going off the rails today and this is on arraignment eve. We can only speculate on what nuttiness the morrow will bring.
Donald Trump is not having good luck with his lawyers. As a matter of fact, he just removed Joe Tacopina from his position as lead counsel and hired Todd Blanche, described as a top white-collar criminal defense lawyer and former federal prosecutor as his lead counsel to handle the arraignment tomorrow in Manhattan.
Blanche was Paul Manafort and Igor Fruman’s lawyer as well. They both did time in prison, as you may recall. Blanche was a partner at a prestigious firm, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, and he resigned from the firm in order to represent Trump. I have no idea what kind of money changed hands but it must be impressive, wouldn’t you say? What would you guess? $10 million? $20 million? More?
So that’s the newest character to join the cast of Trump world. Meanwhile, Trump’s main “television lawyer” Alina Habba fell resoundingly on her butt on CNN today.

He has a multitude of lawyers, most of them second or third-rate – because he doesn’t take advice and he’s stiffed too many people.

Word is that Tacopina was hated and being trashed by all the other Team Trump lawyers. He made an ass out of himself on TV multiple times but let’s face it – he was doing exactly what Trump wanted him to do. Spout bullshit and hope it would stick to the walls. However Trump does regrettably have PR savvy and sometimes he pays attention to what his gut tells him is true which in this case is that Tacopina was doing more harm than good. That he had another Rudy on his hands. I can see another reason for Trump making this move which is classic Trump. Anyone want to bet me that one of the first, if not THE first motion the new guy files tomorrow at the arraignment is for a ridiculously long delay? To allow him to “learn the case?” It WILL slow matters down some because the judge will have to grant at least a couple of months if asked or risk any conviction being overturned on appeal. Whether giving Bragg more time is a wise move remains to be seen. If it’s true Bragg has struck a cooperation deal with Weisselberg or if ole Al is currently undergoing what would have to be a lengthy “Queen for a day” grilling by prosecutors confessing every sin he helped Trump commit Bragg can always file additional charges.
However, I do like that you pointed out Trump’s new lawyer lost both cases of Trump associates that went to trial!
