Believe it or not, there is a rich history of liberalism in our plains states, indeed, the modern progressive movement was born in large part out of political populism in Wisconsin. So it shouldn’t be all that hard to believe that even though most of those same states are now red-hatted MAGA, there is still a streak in them that isn’t willing to get too far out in dedication to anyone. This seems to be specially true as it involves our veterans and them losing their positions in our federal government (Hiring preferences). Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas got such blowback in a Saturday morning townhall that he went running out, cutting the whole thing short due to the anger. This should be required reading for all Republicans in Congress. Their constituents aren’t going to take this.
As reported in Rawstory:
Marshall, who is no stranger to being insulted during his public appearances, was reported by Heartland Signal to have “ended his constituent town hall early” on Saturday “after being pressed about DOGE firing veterans.”
Democratic strategist Matt McDermott characterized the scene as the lawmaker “standing up and leaving his own town hall meeting today after being asked why Republicans think it’s acceptable for DOGE to be firing Veterans.”
It would otherwise be unfair because 90% of these Republicans in Congress do not believe it is acceptable for DOGE to be firing veterans but know there’s nothing they can do about it and that if they make too much noise, at least singularly, there is one hell of a price to pay for criticism of Trump and his policies. But that’s the bed they crawled into and now they’re wedded to it – the love child will be ugly.

Democratic insider Aaron Fritschner said, “Hearing about another angry scene at a Republican town hall—this time for Senator Roger Marshall in Oakley, Kansas.”
Ben Honeycutt, a middle school teacher hailing from Colorado Springs, said on X, “Watching Roger Marshall get bloodied in blood-red Oakley Kansas was a wild experience today.”
It is not like there’s any reason to feel bad, again – they all know what they signed up for. But their choice to continue to blindly follow Trump and the reckless, Musk-led DOGE should force them into at least holding townhalls and standing there and taking it like a Democrat, promising to continue to look into it.
But it must be said, like everything else, there is a limit to this and at some point just canceling townhalls isn’t going to be enough. There will soon come a point that one-third of the Republican senate will realize that they are up for re-election in 2026 and they’re going the wrong way in the polls. At that point, there may be little to do beyond being more critical. Of course, the trouble is that most of the damage will already be done and be irreversible.

Friends, we are struggling to make ends meet. It’s not just us, it’s industry wide. There are star hosts being bumped on MSNBC as we speak. (Joy Reid and Alex Wagner) So if you can afford a small donation or a monthly subscription, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Ursula

Marshall thought he was safe in far-west high-red Kansas in an auditorium for 20 people. He’s so afraid of city people in Johnson County (high education and avg. income) that he has police officers to keep people from going to his office. What tax money pays for his locked offices in the state?
