Should have known it was too good to be true. Two Senators who lied. Two Senators who gave up our hope. Two senators who backed down. Two senators who are going to put the country further into hell. What the actual eff. Why did they bother? They’re not up for reelection. They should have stayed scorched earth, and they didn’t. All talk and then they fell right back in line. This is so damn disappointing. My regards to Raw Story:
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) dismissed the concerns of survivors of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein just moments after he voted to allow acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to get a full vote on the Senate floor. After explaining during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that he has no problem with the controversial Blanche becoming President Donald Trump’s next attorney general because of a compromise on the president’s IRS immunity deal, he was cornered in the hallway by reporters.
Lies, lies and more lies. They never had any intention of following through. Your writer no longer supports them, because this is disgusting. Blanche as AG is going to make people’s lives hell. He is blatantly Trump’s pawn, and will do what he is told. The DoJ will not be the DoJ if he gets confirmed. It will be Trump’s personal set of lawyers. They’ll have to try and prosecute anything and everything. (How does it feel, Jeanine Pirro?) Then the case will be thrown out by the court, or the attorney will have to pull it. It’s a waste of everyone’s time and effort. But if Trump says prosecute, they will. Side note: the courts just threw out the 20th case for the federal government trying to get voter records. The 20th.
“Well, what happened to them is, is a tragedy,” he demurred. ”There’s — we know that people have been convicted of trafficking in the crimes, and Epstein is no longer with us.” “But I don’t believe there’s anything we could do to assuage them at this point,” he stated. “But we need to continue to help them every way we can, but I just think that’s one of those things that cannot be remedied with a no vote.” Cornyn did not address the fact that, as attorney general, Blanche can sit on the Epstein files, as he and former Attorney General Pam Bondi have been accused of doing since the DOJ took control of them.
A no vote meant Blanche wouldn’t have been passed out to the full Senate, you moron! The same goes for Tillis, who also blew off talking to the survivors. Neither one of them is going to be in Congress next year, so who got to them and made them back down??!! The survivors need to be heard in Congress, but they keep getting pushed away. Blanche is going to sit on the rest of the files that need to come out, and he’ll just ignore the law. Blondi did, and he will, too. And yes, Trump’s personal DoJ. How many of their lawyers are going to leave because they can’t believe in their leadership anymore? The two senators who said they were determined to push back on Trump, and Blanche, caved. And they blew off people who need to be heard. It must be disheartening for the survivors. Let’s hope they have the strength to keep going until the rest of the files come out, and Trump is no longer president, and the next president will do the right thing. As for Cornyn and Tillis? They lie. What a letdown. And so, so disillusioning.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
