I do so love to see former cult members defect, not to mention acolytes and high priests. Bill Barr was a major Trump henchman until he decided that he couldn’t do it anymore, and he has been the source of much comic relief since then.
I love the image of Patsy Baloney Pat Cipollone, standing in pouring rain, knocking on the glass of Barr’s SUV and begging him to come back into the White House because Trump decided that he changed his mind about firing the attorney general. And Barr said “no.”
Today’s image is even better. With a Grinchian smirk, Barr takes all of the air out of Trump’s pompous posture of having declassified documents and then he goes on to slam the entire Mar-a-Lago attempted coverup.

Here’s what is happening right before our eyes: Whatever is left of the “legitimate” Republican party, they have had it with Trump up to their eyeballs. They’re going to do what they can to get rid of his toxic presence. That puts them on a par with the Never Trumpers in the party, i.e., the intelligentsia who bailed early on when Trump’s star began to rise.
That leaves Trump and his hard core MAGA troops and as obnoxious as they may be, they simply are not numerous enough to put him back in the White House.
Plus, consider the special interests of Ron DeSantis and the others who want to continue to rise in the party. They need to distance themselves from Trump as well and will continue to do so.
This is going to be interesting to watch. I can’t predict what will happen, but it will be something to see, I feel safe in saying that much. We’re going to see Donald Trump flip out live and in real time, because he will not be able to endure being sidelined. He’ll make every effort to take down as many GOPers with him as he can. I just hope he doesn’t start spewing out Top Secret information on live TV but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it, I guess.

Is it just me or do those Fox hosts look really pissed and disappointed? It sure seems to me like they were expecting Barr to give Mueller report type cover for Trump and instead he spoke all kinds of stuff they wanted NO part of hearing! I’ll bet they were hoping like hell the control room would cut the interview off due to “technical difficulties” or some such shit. Bilirubin Barr is in full-on cover his own ass mode. I truly doubt that although he obstructed justice and a case could be made that HE would get prosecuted. He’s old and clearly a “widowmaker” heart attack waiting to happen. However, as with retired Justice Anthony Kennedy he’s got a son who has a lot of life ahead who has their own legal concerns. Barr is likely trying to curry favor with DOJ to back off him and by extension his family, but regardless he’s putting the GOP in a helluva position. He did after all join in/take over Rod Rosenstein’s treachery of ensuring the Mueller Investigation would fizzle in the end and is celebrated in conservative circles for that. But now he’s a different guy. He can’t be a hero on the one hand and a backstabber (to Trump) on the other. Of course, this is the GOP we’re talking about and one thing I’ve learned is they have an amazing ability to talk out both sides of their ass and act like they haven’t shit all over the place.
Still, I imagine Trump’s people are BEGGING Fox to let them know whenever this segment airs (it will come up again) so they can do some type of distraction (like in White Christmas) to keep Trump away from his magic tee vee box!

Never forget that Tubby The Ewok (with apologies to all actual Ewoks who had the good sense to kick this fool off Endor) was Old Man Bush’s hatchetman in the closing days of the latter’s admin. A guy who could help work out pardons for proven Iran-Contra crooks (“patriotic reasons”, my ass) was always going to be agreeable to Trump’s idea of government.
His objection to Trump? The latter was jaw-droppingly incompetent at it. So it’s nothing for him to do a backstab here. He’s probably hoping that his once and future queen Liz Cheney notices him.
I’ve never understood the Ewok reference with Barr. I’ve always preferred to compare him to Jabba the Hutt and let’s face it, there’s a lot more similarities with Barr and Hutts than Barr and Ewoks. So I like to refer to him as Barr the Hutt, or more increasingly as Bilirubin the Hutt. (FYI, bilirubin is a component of the enzyme that gives shit its color – seems appropriate, at least to me even if I almost always have to explain it)
Your nickname for Barr is an apt one, Denis, though I always leave that comparison to Trump myself, a creature far MORE like a Hutt, yes? “Tubby The Ewok” is Murf’s pet nickname for Barr and I have to say it kind of fits, hence why I use it.
I agree Trump qualifies as a Hutt both in appearance and behavior. Jabba, Bilirubin, Donny Two-Scoops are all Hutts. As are so many others in Trump’s orbit or wannabes to it. In fact, while not often I’ve referred to the flaming orange human shaped rectum as Trump the Hutt.
He’s so mad at the republicans response to the documents trove (no tears but maybe crocodile sweat) I’m just waiting for him to stamp his feet and say “I obstructed justice and lied under oath,and this was the best you could do!?” No good deed… *smirk.
