When you go to meet your maker, and he asks you, “Did you pay your dues, Jack? Did you pay your dues?” I’ll look him right in the eye and say, “Yes Sri! The check is in the mail.”   Jack Burton   Big Trouble In Little China

I recently wrote that to my mind, the entire January 6th insurrection was going to blow sky high once we get into the new year. It was based on nothing more than the professional manner in which the committee is being run, and the vast preponderance of evidence that they’ve already collected. And the evidence appears  to be damning.

But if this plays out next year the way that I think it’s going to, then it is going to place the Biden administration, as well as the Merrick Garland Department of Justice in a very uncomfortable position. Because you can already see that the entire Trump cabal were so arrogant, and so bone stupid that they have already hung themselves.

And this presents a real problem for the Biden administration as well as the Garland DOJ. Because Biden has repeatedly made it clear and apparent that he wants to leave the excesses of the Trump cabal behind. In a recent presser, when asked what he thought about what the former president said about something, Biden issued a monumental smackdown, I don’t think about the former president. Ouch!

And Merrick Garland is equally desperate to reestablish the Justice Department’s independence from the executive branch. And Biden has been doing his part by restraining from expressing any opinions about potential DOJ matters. But if Garland has the DOJ or the FBI investigating Trump or any of his minions for the events of 1/6, it’s the vest kept secret since The Manhattan Project.

Which is going to lead to real problems for Biden and Garland in 2022. because the Don Corholeone crime family was so stupid, so power drunk, and so arrogant, that the public hearings are going to show clear, cut evidence of criminal behavior in the Trump administration in the January 6th insurrection.

Which places the Biden administration and the Garland DOJ at a moment of inflection. Because I honestly believe that the committee is going to refer multiple Trump administration employees, possibly including Trump himself, for criminal referral to the DOJ in their final report.

What does the DOJ do? God knows there’s international precedent. France has convicted a former president for corruption, and so has Italy. Bibi Netanyahu is sitting in Tel Aviv right now sweating criminal corruption charges. The united States is alone in not holding former heads of state to account for criminal behavior.

That was my premise for writing the previous article. It is clear to me that the 1/6 committee is going to come down with criminal referrals to the DOJ for the insurrection, likely including Trump. And there’s where the rubber meets the road. I cannot conceive of Biden pulling a Gerald Ford, and giving Trump a pardon. Does the Biden DOJ have the balls to actively pursue a criminal prosecution against a former presi9dent? Don’t touch that dial.

  1. They might not have a choice. What Biden and Garland have been desperately hoping for is that certain states like New York and Georgia will prosecute Trump himself at the state level. And in the case of Georgia election interference that will rope in some of his top minions. That would relieve a lot of the political pressure on the current administration. The problem is I think you’re correct and the hearings will contain not just explosive testimony but plenty of documentation beyond the video of the Jan. 6 attack. If DOJ doesn’t do anything when the criminal referrals are made then whatever credibility Garland is trying to restore will be lost. He’ll be in a “damned if you do and damned if you don’t” situation, as he will piss off half the country no matter what. I’ve been in that position myself, and in literal life and death situations. I’ve always been of the “do” type – and in this case Garland will have the chance to knock down some bodies in the process and make those who would try this shit again fear the consequences.

  2. “Does the Biden DOJ have the balls to actively pursue a criminal prosecution against a former president?” Yes.

“… if Garland has the DOJ or the FBI investigating Trump or any of his minions for the events of 1/6, it’s the best kept secret since The Manhattan Project.” Right, and it should be. But how can they not be? It’s not possible to separate it. Ever hear of a grand jury? Of course you have, but not in this case. Why not? Because they are secret.

I don’t believe there is a dilemma. There is a sort of paradox, though. They can’t talk about the most important thing, the thing everybody wants to hear about, for a long time. So people will get the impression nothing’s doing in that line. But there nis a practical imperative. They need that time to neutralize Trump’s many henchmen and henchwomen and to get all the evidence they can out oof them (and they’ve already accomplished a lot in that regard) before they can go for the big one.

But you can see how it’s going from the legal side. The MAGAs, under supposed cover of some bullshit legal theory, were engaged in a totally illegal coup d’etat. And their rationale for it was utterly bogus and contrived. It was not based on any facts, only their corrupt desires. The evidence is there, and when it is presented before the law, the entire Trumpian edifice and everybody and everything connected with it will be revealed as a house of cards and will collapse, because all of it came out of the same fraud and the same fraudsters that plotted the coup. It doesn’t matter how many Magats want to believe it. They can believe the moon is made of green cheese if they want, but it’s not going to get them anywhere.

    • I believe your idea of a stalled Magats process has virtually arrived, Trump, being the lizard he is, continues to spout a confused and stupid rhetoric about all his pains and disrespect by the Republicans, and even now, the FOX News huddle is catching hell and, of course, FOX is getting caught in their own web of flip flops, text messages and emails …

Trump can feel the heat from the 06-01 crew and their witness program … the documents released to them by his former number 1 ass hole, too late for Trump to retract, is making enough noise now to shake up a few, “close friends”, of Trump, these are the building blocks for a biggest ever show of the collapse of everything Trump, leaving the Magats naked and afraid … anyone trying to re-ignite the Magats will be found out and punished as the terrorists they actually have become …

  3. Let’s not overlook the fact that the next coup is already underway, in plain sight. The GOP will follow the script, even if Trump is not the nominee in 2024. Plan A, voter suppression, will make it look like their “wins” are legitimate. Plan B will be legal and political maneuvers to overturn state vote totals that don’t go their way. Plan C, violence, will be a last resort. But note that Bannon and Gaetz
have openly discussed training 4,000 “shock troops” before the next election.
That’s why all the great work of the Congressional committee will be for naught if the DOJ doesn’t act with more urgency to put people behind bars.

  4. DOJ will destroy Plan A by showing that the rationale for all these voter suppression laws was racist intention. Why? Because the ostensible reason, “to safeguard the election process against fraud,” is the exact opposite of the truth. The idea that there is a big problem with elections was fabricated for the specific purpose of obstructing them. So there is no rationale for these laws except suppression with racist intent. Laws or administrative decisions that make it easier to vote are not partisan. This can be proved by facts. (a) no significant voter fraud occurred in the 2020 election. Charges of such fraud, which led to January 6 AND the voter suppression laws in various states, are all based on malicious fabrication circulated throughout the huge RWNJ ecosphere. There is a direct line between the authors and purveyors of these fabrications and the Trump campaign.

Here is just one example — from 2020 :

Col. Phil Waldron Tells Michigan Lawmakers Truckloads of Ballots for Joe Biden Were Inserted into the 2020 Election

This shmuck, Phil Waldron, was just subpoenaed by the J6 Committee TODAY. That tells you they are absolutely on the right track.
