The New York Times has gone out on a limb speaking about Elon Musk’s drug usage and personal drama during the time he was running DOGE and was to all intents and purposes the co-president (if not the main *president*) running these United States. Now if that sentence doesn’t make you want to dig the bourbon out of the cabinet, I don’t know what will. One thing I do know, is that what America is actually told is the tip of the iceberg and if we knew what was really going on in this mis-administration, we would all want to curl up beside the cabinet, with a straw in the bottle, paralyzed. I would say, what you don’t know won’t hurt you, but in fact what you don’t know can kill you.

Trump, of course, only made things worse, saying, “Friday is Elon’s last day although not really.” That’s Trump-speak for pretending that Trump made a great decision by allowing an impaired Elon Musk to create his DOGE wrecking ball to begin with — which still goes on, although in diminished form. Don’t heave too big a sigh of relief just yet. Musk is even more screwed up than you might expect and DOGE can still do a lot of damage.

In an interview in March 2024, the journalist Don Lemon pressed him on his drug use. Mr. Musk said he took only “a small amount” of ketamine, about once every two weeks, as a prescribed treatment for negative moods.

“If you’ve used too much ketamine, you can’t really get work done, and I have a lot of work,” he said.

He had actually developed a far more serious habit, The Times found.

Mr. Musk had been using ketamine often, sometimes daily, and mixing it with other drugs, according to people familiar with his consumption. The line between medical use and recreation was blurry, troubling some people close to him.

He also took Ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms at private gatherings across the United States and in at least one other country, according to those who attended the events.

Gee, three or four mind altering substances in your bloodstream at any given time. Maybe we should be grateful Musk didn’t order Pete Hegseth to nuke Iceland, ya think? You may recall actor Matthew Perry dying from Ketamine, which in large doses causes dissociation from reality and hallucinations. It also can cause bladder problems, which Musk has complained of, the Times reports. And this is who was riding shotgun to Trump — not J.D. This guy.

At a news conference with Mr. Trump on Friday afternoon, Mr. Musk was asked about The New York Times’s coverage. He questioned the newspaper’s credibility and told the reporter to “move on.” That evening, President Trump told reporters outside Air Force One that he was not aware of regular drug use by Mr. Musk. “I’m not troubled by anything with Elon,” he said. “I think he’s fantastic.”

As a large government contractor, Mr. Musk’s aerospace firm, SpaceX, must maintain a drug-free work force and administers random drug tests to its employees. But Mr. Musk has received advance warning of the tests, according to people close to the process. SpaceX did not respond to questions about those warnings.

Testing is alright for thee, but not for me. It would be intriguing to know what Trump ingests on any given day. We’ve all heard the Adderall accusations. That started back in 2015, when Trump would visibly snort and sniff on camera. People at the time were talking about cocaine usuage, but that was never logical given Trump’s obesity.

We are in an actual kakistocracy, government by the least qualified. Live for the 2026 midterms and the chance to turn this madness around.

  1. I wonder how we can get drug testing to become “woke” if only to get it stopped by all the anti-woke brigade?
I mean, why should drug users be denied a “fair” chance at getting a job? (I also find it truly ironic that alcoholics get a pass when getting hired since “alcoholism is a disease” and tobacco use gets a complete free pass, even to the point of many employers allowing smokers to get “extra” breaks to get their fix. But recreational pot or shroom use? “We have a strict zero tolerance drug policy.”)
