Armed FBI Agent, In a Bar, Drinking, Dancing, Backflip, What Could Go Wrong?

We tend to give the FBI the benefit of the doubt around here, not the least bit because it appears that our “would-be” dictator plans to lay all his excuses upon the Bureau. But, on this one, this looks bad, and it looks bad for an agency that doesn’t need bad news. See, Esquire tells us about an FBI agent, already loaded, proceeded to load up on some alcohol, in a bar, with a dance floor, and did a backflip.

Okay, that part went fine.

It was only when his gun fell out of his pants and he went to pick it up, that it “discharged the projectile (cop talk) which then hit someone in the leg (who will be fine). That is how it got bad.

Now, rather than crack on the FBI, which we could do in this situation, I’d rather use this lesson in a positive way.

Remember, it is NRA dogma that responsible gun owners protect people, and the presence of a gun on a responsible gun owner makes us all safer, right?

Now, there are many hard-core NRA members who believe themselves to be extremely responsible and yet cannot spell “FBI,” but I can assure you that getting into the FBI is extremely difficult, no dummies allowed. One practically has to have a law degree, be very bright, in shape, and think straight. I’m pretty sure we’re talking about a responsible gun owner here, much more responsible than the average, say, school security guard.

My point is, the more loaded guns that are around, the less safe I feel. And, as the Parkland kids would tell you, my First Amendment right to freedom of assembly, to go to a public bar, their First Amendment right to freedom of assembly and go to a public school, is not “trumped” by anyone’s Second Amendment right to have an “oops” right next to me. Thank god it only hit someone in the leg and we could have a good time with this “lesson,” because often these don’t end so “harmlessly.” And every study ever done shows that any gun in a home is more likely to harm a person who lives in that home than any “bad guy.”

Okay, lessons over. Thanks, everyone for hearing me out.
