How sharper than a serpent’s tooth it is to have a thankless child
For those unfamiliar with the phrase, a Judas Ewe is an older, matronly female sheep used to lead the lambs to the barn for the spring slaughter. But in this case, I am using it in a more literal sense to describe a possibly traitorous child.
Lo and behold, will wonders never cease, it turns out that the January 6th committee wants to have a little chat with El Pendejo Presidente’s daughter, Ivanka Trump. They gave her a date to show up to testify, and will wonders never cease, rather than telling Chairman Bennie Thompson to go pound sand, apparently Ivanka’s lawyer is negotiating for a better date, and possibly some restrictions in questions.
Stick a pin in this for the next couple of weeks. Trump has 3 adult children that are always inextricably tied to him with ships anchor. They are Don Jr., Ivanka, and Eric Trump. His other daughter, Tiffany Trump’s mother was smart enough to get her as far away as possible from Traitor Tot. But it turns out that not all siblings are created equal.
Don Jr. and Eric are the most fiercely loyal to their father. And that’s for a very good reason. They ended up following in his footsteps when it came to education. They both, like their father, have room temperature IQ’s, and skated through high school and college. And like their father, they have that inbred sense of privilege that only a rich upbringing can provide. But deep down, both Don Jr. and Eric know that their father pays them myriad sums more than their actual training and education warrant. They will go to the mattresses for Daddums, because without him, and his golden cornucopia, they couldn’t get jobs managing a fast food restaurant.
Ivanka is a totally different breed of cat. Unlike everybody else in her family, she went to college, and she actually learned shit! She took relevant courses, and she actually did the work, rather than fobbing it off on her sister as her father did. She earned a business degree from the Wharton School of Business, but unlike her father, she actually earned it.
And then she went out and used it. Say what you will about her methods and practices, she was a successful entrepreneur. She used her name to her advantage to build her own brand, without tarring herself with her father’s excesses.
And when the opportunity came, and her father was President, she used her familial connection yo get 30+ patents from the Chinese President. And she also paid a price for that familial name. Her father’s tanking popularity led to store boycotts of her brands, and a loss of revenue.
But the point is, she is something her brothers aren’t, self sustainable. She is not completely reliant on her father’s good graces in order to earn a living. And she also married well, to Jared Kushner, the son of a wealthy New Jersey based real estate family. Every indication is that they have a close and loving marriage, and he turns good coin.
If I’m Donald Trump, I am scared shitless at the thought of Ivanka Trump appearing in front of the J6 committee. Because Michael Cohen, Trump’s long time employee, confidant, and fixer nailed her to the wall. In an interview with MSNBC, Cohen said that other than Donald Trump, he had never met a more self controlled, self centered, self protective person than Ivanka Trump.
Ivanka Trump doesn’t need either Daddums or his fiscal blessings. She has the agility to make a very comfortable living on her own, And her husband, Jared Kushner is already using the connections he forged as a Trump advisor in the Middle East to wheedle deals with the Saudi’s, the UAE, and Qatar to enrich his family’s companies. They’ll be just fine.
The simple fact that Ivanka is negotiating, rather than resisting an appearance before the J6 committee tells me something. It tells me that she is seriously considering her own self interests, and her best options. And if in fact she decides to appear in front of the J6 committee, then Trump had better abandon Mar-A-Lago, and start looking for countries with no extradition treaties with the US. Don’t touch that dial.
Very interesting (ala Arte Johnson). Mary Trump, and I tend to agree w/her, has always said that Ivanka was most likely to throw daddums under the bus. She has the most to lose. I’m not sure that she’s all that much smarter than her siblings, but she does have her father’s feral instinct for survival. She does have exposure in the NY cases, so it’ll be interesting to see if she honors Tish James’ subpoena.
Even before Trump was sworn in, having made their decision to move to DC and play WH bigshots Jarvanka did something no one else in the family did. The retained top level DC legal representation. In fact folks were surprised that Jamie Gorelick headed up that representation but she was and remains old-school and she’s one of that handful of top DC white collar lawyers leave political work they’ve done behind when representing clients. Jarvanka could have found someone as good I guess but no one better. Of course, Jared being the not as smart as he thinks dickhead that he is pissed her off. For someone like Gorelick who’s clout and reputation come from being able to be truthful in those “hypothetically things what about?” chats lawyers have. And Kushner’s continual sandbagging on something as basic yet hugely significant as his SF-86 to obtain the kind of security clearance his job would (or in any other administration would) require caused her repeated embarrassment as she tried to move things along. Withholding financial information also seems to have gone on separate from the security clearance stuff. After what I’m sure were several “get your shit together or get a new legal team” conversations she dropped Jarvanka as clients. She did however secure someone also (at the time) prominent and well thought of – Abbe Lowell. Not that it made any difference. Lowell seems to have become the “Incredible Shriking Legal Bigshot” and for all I know Witness Protection is one of those big stirring spoons with holes compared to the undisclosed location Lowell seems to have retreated to.
My point though is that they have put up the money to have really good lawyers, even if the very top ones avoid them after thinking over the shit Gorelick had to put up with. Whether they learned their lesson and provided full disclosure to their lawyers so that those lawyers can properly protect them is questionable. Maybe, just maybe since Wannabe Princess Ivanka hasn’t rejected testifying out of hand she thinks she can cover her ass legally. As I said, it was clear from fairly early on both Kushners were hedging their bets in case Congress or prosecutors were to come a calling one day. There will be records. Of stuff they will attempt to trade for leniency if not outright immunity.
I think you are on to something when you suggest where this all could get really explosive is if Tish James decides she wants records and testimony under oath. Wannabe Princess Ivanka probably is more scared of state charges than federal. She and her P.O.S. hubby know their onetime oh so carefully crafted image as up & comers in NYC Society long ago got flushed with the nasty turds in Trump’s fake gold toilet. Hell, they aren’t exactly being welcomed by the hip crowd down their in FL either!
If she’s a so-called thankless child I can at least understand part of her reason for being so. Few women have been as openly lusted after by THEIR OWN FUCKING FAMOUS FATHER as she has. Sure, she willingly played the daddy’s girl role to keep him wrapped around her little finger with the price being putting up with some quite creepy and uncomfortable moments. Not just private ones, but PUBLIC moments! I don’t think she’s as smart as you give her credit for but she’s smart enough. More importantly she’s self-centered and ruthless enough to throw daddums under the bus. She can look at the long, long list of people he’s done it to and especially since it seems despite his deepest and darkest twisted desires she never let him fuck her so he’ll do it to her too if he thinks it will save his ass. Jared would be more than happy to help her. I’m sure he remembers those visits to his dad in federal prison and he doesn’t want to wind up anywhere near one ever again.
I’ve long said that (again because they’ve been preparing for the possibility ever since they decided to leave their life in NYC for the WH) the SECOND either Wannabe Prince & Princess Jarvanka think Trump is going to throw them under the bus they will beat him to the punch!
(You mentioned Tiffany. Sadly, for all the considerable effort her mom put forth to keep her at arm’s length from Trump World she signed on with the Trump Org. She is bright, earned her degrees and Georgetown Law is a pretty damned fine law school. Unlike the typical graduate in DC or NYC, or Chicago and other major cities signing on to a major firm wouldn’t have meant one to two years in some cubicle in a boileroom working 80-100 hour weeks to try and make the cut. She could have had an actual office with a workload of 60-70 hours a week and within a couple of years been well positioned for a junior partnership and on the fast track for full partnership before she was forty. Instead she chose to take the easy money and work for her P.O.S. father, a decision which when it all comes crashing down will haunt her even if she doesn’t touch any of the blatantly illegal stuff that’s gone on since forever in the Trump Org. It took me a long time not to view her mom Marla Maples as a homewrecking P.O.S. but over time it became clear she not only realized how stupid she was to get seduced into Trump World, but made it her mission to shield her daughter from it. It LOOKED like she’d succeeded. Sadly, Tiffany turned out to be a Trump after all – go for the easy money and “fame.” So as is the case with Trump and the rest of his evil spawn either by blood or marriage I have zero fucks to give when it comes to Tiffany)
