Are Trump Nuns the Real Deal or “Paid Actors”? Most Likely Some of Both

We have all seen evidence lately of dotard J. drumpf’s continuing his out of control spiral into broken-brain madness, why with him posting memes on his Truth Social accounts as recently as yesterday made by his addled followers suggesting that he is the second coming of Christ – when he is really more like the second coming of a bad oyster dinner.

The question was posed on Twitter last night though, “Do you think that Donald Trump would stoop low enough to hire paid actors to pretend to be nuns…for a fake photo op?” While I think he is perfectly capable of stooping that low I was also curious to know the facts.

In the case of this particular group of sisters, the short answer to Damaan’s question is that they are real nuns at least according to The Conversation.com they are Dominican sisters attending the January 6th 2012 insurrection bash –

But then The National Catholic Reporter tells us that the following pictured set of nuns, who suspiciously look like the aforementioned Dominicans with their squared of veils and black gloves, are part of a Michigan order not sanctioned by the church, pictured during the 2020 campaign…

“During the final days of the bruising presidential contest — at a time when both Trump and then former Vice President Joe Biden were making a concerted effort to win the Catholic vote — Trump singled out a group of sisters at a rally in Michigan.

Earlier in the month, the president had been diagnosed with COVID-19, and back on the stump, he described being given the drug “Regeneron” to help with his treatment. He then turned to the nuns and said, “The next morning, Sister, I woke up and it was like God touched my shoulder.”

Yet it turns out that the much photographed five nuns in full habit, some holding Trump campaign signs, at that rally aren’t nuns at all, at least nuns that are in communion with the Roman Catholic Church.

“The Dominican Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary are not, at present, in full communion with the Catholic Church and thus have no canonical standing within the Church,” a spokesman for the Diocese of Lansing, Michigan, told NCR via email.”

I’ll leave it to your discretion whether this indeed the same group of nuns, but for my money it certainly appears to me to be, and so to answer the pertinent question of the day,if it is, they are neither real nuns or paid actors but a group of possibly deranged Trump supporters living the communal life in rural Michigan…

“According to the website of the traditionalist Michigan “order,” based in Hartland, Michigan, the “primary objective of the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is to restore and preserve the traditional Dominican conventual life in the United States.”

Mmmm… there’s “Dominican” again.

“This is their privilege, to chant the official prayer of the Militant Church, praising God in the inspired words of the ancient psalms, giving echo to the hymn of praise which the Church Triumphant sings everlastingly to God,” their website states.

The traditionalist group’s site also includes photos of women playing instruments, collecting eggs on a farm and at prayer in a chapel. Inside the chapel is an American flag and one bearing the arms of the Holy See under sede vacante, used after the death or resignation of the pope, or by traditionalist groups that do not accept the validity of the pope.“

Dead Popes? No wonder they aren’t approved.

But OTOH Snipes.com rel nuns do show up at Trump rallies:

These images, however, truly show a group of nuns who attended Trump’s rally in Centreville, Ohio. They are from “Children of Mary,” a community that was founded circa 1989 in Newport, Ohio.

The Children of Mary confirmed to the Washington Examiner that these people were truly nuns and that they were supporting Trump because of his anti-abortion policies:”

So far then – we have real nutter Trump nuns and fake nutter Trump nuns.

No paid actors yet, but I’ll keep looking.
