You could say Donald Trump’s lawyers won a small victory Friday, even if there are days when they act as if they graduated from clown school rather than obtaining law degrees since they keep getting in trouble with judges.

Alina Habba, Sidney Powell, and Rudy Giuliani are just a few of Trump’s attorneys who have been sanctioned by judges, and let’s not forget that Trump’s former lawyers Powell and Giuliani have plenty of their own legal problems.

But things went their way — a little bit anyway — when a U.S. appeals court upheld most of the restrictions to muzzle Trump — but then lifted the prohibition on him personally criticizing Special Counsel Jack Smith, Reuters reports.

So, while that’s not good news for Smith, this can be considered a victory for Habba and her team, no matter how tiny it is.

The court also ruled Trump can’t talk about witnesses if it involves their part in the investigation and anything they might testify about in court. Trump has routinely ignored gag orders and rigorously attacked witnesses, prosecutors, and court staff on Truth Social and during his campaign rallies.

“We agree with the district court that some aspects of mr. trump’s public statements pose a significant and imminent threat to the fair and orderly adjudication of the ongoing criminal proceeding,” judge patricia millett wrote in her decision but added that the orginal order “sweeps in more protected speech than is necessary.”

As noted by Mediaite, Trump has pleaded not guilty in the case which will go to trial in Washington next March. And he has pleaded not guilty in three other criminal cases, which means he’s going to be busy for quite a while.

But has done a lot of sneaky things like doxxing New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is leading a $250 million civil fraud trial against him, his adult sons, and The Trump Organization. His own supporters posted the names of members of the grand jury that indicted Trump and several of his co-defendants on racketeering charges in Georgia on a website known for violent content.

So how well will this bode for Smith if Trump or one of his unhinged supporters issue threats? We already know Republican Rep. Clay Higgins (Louisiana) warned Smith in a Newsmax interview “Your days are numbered” and then softened that remark by saying “We are prepared to fight legally and peacefully” but that may encourage the more dangerous Trump supporters to think it’s okay to act on this.

In a statement, a Trump spokesperson said the former president intends to keep fighting for our First Amendment rights (even if he almost destroyed them on January 6, 2021). He had earlier challenged the gag order, arguing it violated his First Amendment rights to free speech and also made it more difficult to run for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

“president trump will continue to fight for the first amendment rights of tens of millions of americans to hear from the leading presidential candidate at the height of his campaign,” one Trump spokesperson told reuters.

So perhaps his lawyers can do a brief hand slap with each other over their desks but as long as they continue to work for Trump they will be losing more often than winning.

I think that’s guaranteed.

  1. He’s a phucking king. No matter how small the restriction, he will piss on it. The question I direct to the court is WHEN he violates it…what are you prepared to do??? I’m sick of a system that tiptoes around a traitor and fascist, yet throws average people in jail daily for MUCH MUCH LESS. And you want respect? You are the phuckers that created this monster. Then you pretend you didn’t. Phuck you pampered entitled rich assholes. He’s a member of YOUR group. The only true democracy in this life is DEATH. It isn’t fair when or how it comes about…but it’s a comfort to know, YOU ASSHOLES WILL SOMEDAY DIE…and no amount of money, power, lies, privilege, or faux religion will save your sorry asses. It’s a strange comfort, but it is a comfort.

  2. Another farce. A plane could fly through this loophole. This is beyond disheartening. And we’re supposed to think there is no two-tier “selective” justice system. This is outrageous. Unacceptable.

  3. Appeals court thinks it’s a no-no for Trump to incite followers to commit violence on court staff, and their families, but prosecutors and judges and their families are fair game. This appeals court stinks to high heaven!

  4. I strongly suspect that during his sojourn as a prosecutor in the Hague Jack Smith has received credible death threats from.more competent adversaries than Trump’s redneck supporters more used to shooting squirrels than people.

  5. How did Trump he’s get hold of the names of the jurors who inducted Don Don? They need to plug that hole immediately. The various districts in which his criminal.cases will be tried need to start thinking g about how to protect their jurors right now because you can guarantee there will be attempts to intimidate them, death threats, and treats to.their family. Getting them in and out of the courthouse will be difficult. If anyone who wants to attend, can, how will they hide jurors’ identities? If it is televised, that just makes it even more impossible.
