Just came across one of my favorite things – a little article tucked on the edge of a bigger one that gives me something I can quite happily share with you. Y’see, Judge Merchan told the Orange Baby Balloon that he WILL be in court for sentencing following CONVICTION on January 10, at 9:30 in the morning. He may attend physically or virtually, and he is to respond with his preference by EOD January 5.
Thought you could get away, dude? Well, there may not be anything that will actually happen to you … until you’re out of the position of El Presidente, but you and your GUILTY verdict have not been forgotten. You will not be President until noon on JANUARY 20. This appearance is on January 10. You’re not going to be able to say “WITCH HUNT” even though you will do so anyhow, because it did NOT prevent you from running for President, and you will be becoming President, just NOT. YET. There’s not a damn thing you can do about it because you don’t have absolute immunity for this because the charges came as a private citizen. Remember that. The charges were brought against you as a private citizen and were NOT part of your presidential duties with absolute immunity – and boy is that going to come back and bite our country in the ASS. He can literally do *whatever he wants* once he’s sworn in, and he can’t be stopped. Thank you, SCOTUS for being such bought and paid for fools …. With a few exceptions, but they’re definitely in the minority and can’t do much except tell the country how F*CKED UP that is with the supermajority Justices. So yea, Dictator for a Day? No, just a dictator.
But again, PRIVATE CITIZEN. Not the Presidency where you *might* be protected, but just you and your businesses and your family and F. R. A. U. D. I really thought he was actually going to get away with it when he became President-elect. But Judge Merchan is no fool and I think he just might have something up his sleeve that no one’s expecting. He did pretty damn well with the poker face when the trial was progressing.
Or maybe I’m just blowing smoke and he doesn’t have anything. I strongly doubt that scenario. Getting to be a judge is not easy and there is a lot of information in Judge Merchan’s head, and a lot of court cases he’s presided over, and there actually might just be something up one (*or both*!) sleeves. I’m looking forward to that day, even if the sentence will be postponed until the Mango Messiah isn’t President any more. Too bad Jack Smith had to close all his cases (and eff you Aileen Cannon and your BULLSH*T) because there is no reason in the world those couldn’t continue because they were looked at very, VERY carefully and adjusted for what did NOT fall under absolute immunity. They probably WON’T come back, but we can dream, right?

And now, a very special message from our awesome boss:
Friends, I am forced to self-promote and ask you for money. We had a bad year compared with 2023 and the end of the year has been catastrophic. Traffic died on November 5. probably not going to happen because Trump has appealed for the NY state case to move case to the Federal Court for a second time, so Trump will ask for a stay on the sentencing date
Well, I just saw a blurb on CNN about “unconditional discharge” so I’m disappointed. Very, very disappointed. I just don’t have the words to say anything more.
Um, to whom has Trump appealed? The Federal court has NO authority over cases that were handled under STATE laws *unless* said state law conflicts with Federal jurisdiction. As the fraud case against Trump did NOT involve committing fraud against the Federal government, there’s no chance of the case being appealed. (Besides, to appeal a State case to a Federal court, you can’t go “shopping” for a more friendly venue; you’re forced to go to the Federal Court which holds jurisdiction over the State which, in this case, is the Second Circuit.)
As for “appealing” to stay the sentencing date, that’s not going to happen. His sentencing has already been delayed (a couple of times, if I’m not mistaken) and he’s already run through any appeals he could try. He can likely appeal the sentence once issued but he cannot appeal the sentencing date.
Sorry to rain on the parade, but the law doesn’t put rich white guys in jail…quick question…how many poor folk walk after being CONVICTED of 34 felonies, and 10 CONTEMPT charges threatening the judge and his daughter??? Answer: Not a goddamn one. The hypocrisy of the LAW is really the culprit that has brought us here. That’s a fact.
I wish I could quibble about this with you, but I can’t. But one day … maybe … assuming I live to see it. No rain, Scott, simple statement of fact. You are correct.
Nonetheless, a timely reminder to those who mistakenly took his bait: THIS is what you voted in as president
Merchant has already said there will be no.jail time because (1) he’s Da Pres come 1/20 (2) he has no criminal history (translation: this was the first time he was tried for criminal activity and been found guilty) and (3) his advanced age. While Merchants didn’t mention this, he’s not dumb and he recognizes what a security nightmare it would be to.keep.him.safe in a state prison (unless they could talk California into reopening Akcatraz,,where he could have the whole building to.himself,,surrounded by the ocean with lots of sharks who’d occasionally like a nosh). So no.jail.time but likely fines and probation.
If only I could believe Judge Merchan had something up his sleeve, but unfortunately I don’t think that is the case. Everything I’ve heard leads me to believe that once again, DON THE CON will be given a slap on the wrist with absolutely no consequences.
NO JAIL TIME, not even a substantial fine, not that fines have done any good at affecting his behavior. I was really hoping for Merchan to finally make DON THE CON pay a consequence for all of his nasty corrupt behavior. That he would get some time behind bars, but as usual… the criminal justice system is letting the wealthy lying conman TURD off with a wrist slap, as usual.
