Whew. That comment was made by a French general in response to a conversation about Donald Trump’s *plan* to build a runway inside Tehran in order to haul uranium out of the country. The general is responding to the obvious logistical questions, how is Trump going to: 1. Build the airport? 2. Secure it from bombing? 3. Find the uranium and get it to the airport? 4. Keep American troops safe while all this is going on? The bottom line here is obvious: We have an ally mocking us severely. That should be a wakeup call.
French Gen. Michel Yakovleff mocked the Trump administration’s plan to build a runway inside Iran to extract uranium and fly it out, calling it unrealistic.
“American officials should stop snorting cocaine between one meeting and the next,” he said. pic.twitter.com/QHKXEv7IWk

The chyron translates as “a raid on the ground is proposed by Trump.” Turning Iran into a ground war is going to make it a lengthy disaster, and the French are responding to that. The audio is not terrific and these people are speaking fast but one phrase I caught was “tellement fou” which is “really crazy.” Yes, General, a lot of utterances by Donald Trump are really crazy, I’ll vouch for that.
Again, the newsworthiness of this piece is the overall vibe, that our ally is openly disparaging us and laughing at this strategy of Trump’s. That’s the problem here. When your allies are mocking your best ideas it’s time to go back to the drawing board.
Not that Trump would ever admit that his ideas left something to be desired. But as you saw Wednesday night in his slurred and rambling speech, all this is a desire to grab oil and get rich and it hasn’t been thought through. Our allies are thinking it through for us and they are appalled.

Ok, so I was just a grunt back when I served in the Corps but I’m pretty sure Iran has a shitload of airports and airstrips. Ane WE have some workhorse aircraft that can both carry a lot of tons of people/gear or say sixty pounds of uranium that are also capable of operating from short runways or with what’s called ‘rough field capability.’ Gravel and dirt airstrips.
IOW instead of sending in multiple divisions of troops to protect the construction folks for weeks or even upwards of a month to build a makeshift airstrip, AND the heavy dutry construction equipment that would be needed AND thousands of tons of materials (unless all they do is create a really nice and smooth dirt airstrip and a large area for helicopters and multiple planes) it would be cheaper in effort, money and blood to simply find out where the nuclear material actually is, then send in enough troops to grab it and if there isn’t a place to land fixed wing planes within walking distance grab and hold the nearest airstrip and helo the troops who grab the uranium to it.
So this talk of BUILDING an airport for this purpose only makes sense if Trump intends to slap his name on it in giant, fake gold letters!
I just so heartily agree with everything in the first paragraph, it made me LOL! Thanks for that.
cocaine? acid i think. are there no military professionals left to slowly and clesrly explain just how unfeasable, not to mention totally asinine, this is?
