What you are about to see (and hear) is stranger than usual but then we’re always being asked to condition our expectations downward, so today’s revelation will be scarcely a surprise. The gyrations are vintage Trump but what I found strange was the soundtrack. Do my ears and whiskers deceive me, or do I hear the theme from Hawaii Five-O? Listen to this a couple of times. See if you hear it too. (Or, maybe the stress of writing about Trump the past decade, with another three years in sight, has finally burnt up one too many dendrites and my poor brain is collapsing.) Finally. I’ll just go have a cognitive test and reassure myself I’m a genius.

We heard Stormy Daniels opine how great Trump was or wasn’t in bed. Maybe this commenter is on to something. Anyhow, back to the music Trump *danced* to. Why Hawaii Five-O is beyond me. And you can see the Malaysians moving in rhythm to the song, whereas Trump wouldn’t know rhythm if the entire rhythm section of a band hit him in his mobidly obese derriere with all their instruments, all at once.

Seriously, Hawaii Five-O was on the air and the theme song was well known enough to where the pom pom girls at my high school performed halftime routines to its strain. And we’re talking over fifty years ago. Look, maybe they did it because Trump has revealed himself to be stuck back in the 80’s so they figured dial back the time machine yet another decade, why not?

And we are all trembling to be spoken to that way. I’m trembling so hard I expect the computer to zap me anytime now because that’s what computers do when shaken hard enough. They take revenge.

Now, because we give you video blasts from the past, here are two. The first one is one that you likely have not heard before. Did you know the Hawaii Five-O theme had lyrics? It does. And would you believe none other than Sammy Davis, Jr. performed them?

Interesting trivia note: This version went with the pilot version of Hawaii Five-O before the producers decided to go with the instrumental version, performed by The Ventures.

Another possible reason this was played for Trump: The Ventures music is big in that part of the world because the Ventures use a six-note, as opposed to a seven-note scale — or so I have heard that this is the reason for the band’s decades long popularity in Japan, as an example. So it is possible that the Malaysians were looking for some cross-cultural reference. I do not know, I merely extract this notion from thin air and share it with you here as it occurs to me.

I also did not see Melania get off the plane with Donald, did you? And I also did not hear Melania’s comment about hubby destroying the East Wing of the White House. That’s likely because she really doesn’t care, do U, and she didn’t make one. Her silence on this topic speaks volumes.

Her office declined to respond when asked by CNN whether she supports the project, despite the outcry from former East Wing staffers of both parties.

The article goes on to opine that it’s a bit like if your neighbor would bulldoze your very own garage and you didn’t even make a comment about it. Some pundits have said that maybe the demolition of the East Wing was intended as a screw you gesture to Melania by Trump but that would only be the case if she was actually in Washington and doing the job that traditionally the spouses of the sitting president have seen fit to do.

What’s that you say? Will Melania be in town to do the fokkeeng creesmuss decorations? (“Eye mean who geeves a fokk about creesmuss decorations but eye have to dew eeet, right?”) Wouldn’t that be a howler if she didn’t bother? Or, maybe that’s why Barron decided to move in with Dad, is because it was the only way he could guarantee Mom would be under the same roof at Christmas.

And who knows? Maybe both Trumps will ingest a blot of mustard or an underdone potato and have a shocking dream on Xmas Eve, showing them what assholes they have been and they wake up different people, and start being a different way in the world. Right.

  1. that’s definitely what they are playing. i did know there were lyrics but didn’t know sammy sang them. i don’t think i’ve heard that version in over 50 years.

  2. You can also get an idea what a woman is like in bed from how she dances. this is why every opera performed in Paris in the 19th century (which included not just French operas, but Italian, German, even eastern European and Russian operas) was required to contain a ballet. The Opera’s wealthy supporters needed to see ballets in order to choose their next mistresses.
