This was so expected and anticipated that you could almost have set your watch with it. This latest “press release” from Donald Trump came out within two hours of the Facebook continued ban news breaking.
There was criticism of the Politico reporter who posted this on Twitter, because there are two schools of thought, one is that Trump should be completely ignored. The problem with that, is that he gets his whacky stuff to his base, and frankly, I think we need to pay attention to what he says to them, so we know what the gaslighting of the day is. I think shutting our eyes and saying, he’s gone, let’s forget him is not the proper course of action, especially when GOP leaders are making daily pilgrimages to Mar-a-Lago.
In any event, same bombastic delusion, different day. But you see what is happening here, Trump went batshit bonkers over not being reinstated, because he needs the Facebook platform to get money.
And a few minutes later, this jewel dropped.

He thinks he’s still president! Seriously, all he is doing here is ratifying Facebook’s decision. They can’t give a platform to this lunatic. All he did with these statements is pull the dirt in over his own grave.

My take – he still scares the shit out of me. PTSD has not stopped with this mofo. We all know he’s a liar and worse. His followers believe his shite. That’s what scares the shit out of me. Democracy is hanging by a thread as long as anyone (!) in the media gives him a platform.

The parallels to our present situation are astounding. “Our Dear Leader” was rumoured to have read Herr Fuhrer’s books and I believe he is closely following Hitler’s playbook to power.
One thing that struck me was the persistence and length of time Hitler and his band took to come to power. I’ve been lulled into thinking sometimes that we are past the worst, but the GQP could be just getting started. At one time Hitler spent time in prison and just before they took over, their power was at an ebb and they were nearly bankrupt. Suddenly everything lined up and Hitler was named Chancellor. All along, his opposition made the mistake of underestimating Hitler and misjudging him as an easily manipulated fool. His Stormtroopers, who he claimed not to know or approved of, rioted in the streets, killing their opponents and destroying businesses. A brilliant lawyer successfully sent many of them to prison. Regrettably once Hitler took over, this lawyer died in a concentration camp.
Hitler used scapegoating of “undesirables” to attract followers and indulged in wild conspiracy theories, too. He took advantage of the hard times of the Depression to focus blame on the “other.” Like 45, he used simplistic solutions and lies to gain followers, knówing that constant repetition of falsehoods enabled the masses to believe the fantastical.
Don’t underestimate the lust for power.
There are those who say &, who apparently believe the present cult will die on the vine. They underestimate the mental laziness of the masses, which results in going along without researching, thinking, or acting. Now with lies, half truths, & distractions, & a culture that worships self in the moment, while denying we all are trapped here on earth headed toward CERTAIN biological death, well…u get what u pay for. Fascism wasn’t ended in 1945. Democracy wasn’t won in 1776, 1783, 1865, or 2021. The fight continues.
There was this wonderful article I read on Foreign Policy Magazine talking about Chernobyl and how using it as a metaphor for the Soviet Union’s collapse amounts to little more than “a comforting fable”. It also dissected how people, especially in power, consistently apply the wrong lessons of history in place of actually thinking it through.Vietnam was cited as an example of this, using flawed analogies to the Nazis on a situation that was only superficially like the Indochina situation…sound familiar?
Let’s be straight about something. We Americans suck at threat assessment. Paranoid or oblivious, the only time we tend to figure the real threat is after it hits us. So save all the energy you would have wasted on Trump and pay attention to the folks still actually in office. See who the latter is talking to more than the Giant Peach.

Omg!! That’s exactly how I feel!! He scares the crap out of me!!! .Just thinking of all the stuff he’s done and gotten away with. All the lies and accusations and I think what scares me more than anything is that he has followers who believe everything that comes out of his mouth. I started questioning myself there for a while but after the election, I was convinced that more people than not feel the same way I do.
I’ve seen his kind before, up close. The next threat won’t come from him. He’s done as a force in politics.
His followers are the real threat. They’re the scary ones. Trump is just a spoiled rich asshole who has never had to be accountable or face consequences. It’s the people who deify him that frighten me.
The ones in Congress are scary enough – the ones outside are real nutjobs.

Also, we must not ignore the rumblings and actions going on with the Proud Boys and their type, a force of armed, limited knowledge freakers could hurt, even kill huge numbers of innocent citizens, with semi-auto AR15’s and other assault-type weapons, buckets full of ammo, moving into a small community could be a massacre’s disaster before any units, police/military could arrive with armor and weapons …
