The old GOP is dead and the present GOP is clueless. I mean clueless. If there was any sanity at the Republican National Committee, the idea would be to distance oneself from the never ending scandal which is Donald Trump and attempt to get the Republican party back onto some stable ground. That is not happening because McDaniel doesn’t know how. She doesn’t know how because she’s not smart enough to see the big picture and realize what the Republican party is up against.
What happened yesterday was horrific and unprecedented. But McDaniel is taking it in stride, because all she knows is the act and react of normal politics and Ronna, we hate to break it to you, politics stopped being normal the day you people put Trump at the top of your ticket.
One person in the Republican hierarchy who does see the big picture is Mitch McConnell. Right now, you will find him speaking volumes with his silence. Kevin McCarthy, on the other hand, has been forced to go on record, in order to defend himself against the possibility of the caucus electing Jim Jordan as speaker, and he’s doing that by threatening to go after the DOJ if and when he becomes speaker.
McCarthy is bouncing off the ropes, trying to stay in the fight against the MAGA faction of the caucus, McConnell is off radar, and McDaniel is out begging for money to elect the worst candidates in GOP history.

Yes friends, the price of gas is coming down, along with the price of prescription drugs. The planet might be saved from destruction. Life is good. Unless you listen to the GOP and Fox News, which are running around screaming, “my hair is on fire and the sky is falling, send money.”
As I’ve said many times in the past, I don’t know how we’re going to endure as a nation with dual narratives of reality running concurrently. Truly, I do not.
Yeah, see unlike the previous administration, this one doesn’t try to order the A.G. around. President Biden figures the A.G. can do the job a great deal better than he can so he leaves it to him.

I do find this rather amusing: RNC: “if you announce you’re running for prez before the midterms we’re shutting off the funds spigot for your legal defense”. RNC today: “poor, poor trump, give us money!”. Wonder if he realizes just how much he is being used…

Yeah, jerk. But, see, there’s a difference: An UNELECTED group of people decided to break with ALL precedent and COMPLETELY overturn a law (it should also be remembered that they were NOT being asked to overturn Roe completely; the case before the fascists at SCOTUS was if the Mississippi law RESTRICTING abortion at 15 weeks was legal) that potentially affects EVERY American. Maybe as a man (and I’m being generous in applying that term to you), you won’t have to face dealing with an unwanted pregnancy but maybe a sister, a girlfriend, a daughter (gods help her if you’re her sire) will. And, it’s probably highly unlikely that you’ll be raped and wind up pregnant (funny how some GOPers say it can’t even happen but other GOPers will say even a rapist should have a chance to be a father) but you’re happy with a rape victim being forced (even at the ripe old age of 10) to endure an unwanted pregnancy? Got it.
At any rate, the FBI raid that the GOPers are fundraising off, well, it’s not really that unprecedented. Where were these f-wads fundraising efforts after Brionna Taylor was killed by cops breaking in to her home in a RAID? Oh, right. She’s Black so she didn’t count. The fact is that the FBI doesn’t care about people’s careers when they’re investigating potential criminal activity (and, yes, that includes ex-*residents). As GOPers are always so fond of remarking when REGULAR people (even the Black ones) are harassed by cops on the street, if you haven’t done anything wrong, what’s the matter? What’s Trump trying to hide? Didn’t Trump spend much of his 2016 election leading chants to “Lock her up” because of her “missing emails?” *I* seem to recall that quite well. And remember the scandal that Hillary had the audacity to use a “private” server for communications while she was Secretary of State, and yet the GOP has barely uttered a peep in the way of demanding that Trump return ALL the documents that he STOLE from the White House as he was leaving. What about all the missing texts and phone messages from important Trump officials and Secret Service–that were supposed to be PROTECTED AND STORED before the planned “wipe” and alleged switch of services?
See the GOPers are fundraising over an issue that affects ONLY criminals and Donald Trump. If you don’t do anything wrong, the FBI won’t come after you. (Well, unless you’ve got brown or black skin or you’re of the wrong Abrahamic faith and certain leaders decide that you need to be rounded up as part of a “routine investigation.”)

And she does not have a good head for politics, which is the part of this which is insane. Anybody watching politics these days realizes that the GOP has to come out of its nosedive and stabilize. It has to regroup. It has to have a message. So far the only message that she can come up with is, “we need more money.” So conversely, she’s supporting Trump and using him to fundraise, while at the same time, telling him he can’t announce his candidacy pre-midterms or his legal bills won’t be paid. I am dizzy trying to follow it all.
