I had a chat the other day via text with Black Max’s wife, and said to tell Max if he wanted to come back to work here on the site that he was welcome. She said she would convey that thought and she knew it would make him glad.
That was a few days ago and today we learn that Black Max is going to cross the Rainbow Bridge. He’s headed to hospice. Cancer has ravaged his body, as cancer is wont to do.
This is sobering. The man is almost a decade younger than me and the point to be learned is that we never, ever ever know when our time has drawn nigh.
I mourn for his lovely wife and I mourn for the wonderful cats, the feral cats, that Mike Tuck/Black Max devoted himself to. He loved them and they loved him. They will miss their dear friend. They will know he’s passed and they will mourn him in their own way. I know that. I have seen cats mourn the passing of a beloved human. The human/animal bond is one of the most magical in this world.
And they will walk with him as he crosses the Rainbow Bridge.
Join me in a prayer for our fallen comrade. Light a candle, have a moment of silence.
God bless you and him. We will carry on his work.
I’m sorry, but I’m totally confused. Who is Black Max? Is he a person or a cat? I’m sorry that you are losing him, whoever he is.

It’s amazing how the journey goes. We never know how long it will be. When I spoke to him last year none of this was going on. You never know. Enjoy life for the gift it is.
Although I will say this: I do believe in the eternal soul and a life besides this mortal one. So I do wish him Godspeed to that life.
