Substitute the word Muslim above, where it says Jew, or Hindu or Sikh or any religion you can name and the point is made that we are all human. Religion and culture are man made constructs. Our humanity goes deeper than that. Ilhan Omar has had some dreadful slings and arrows launched her way in Congress, unfortunately by none other than her own colleagues. The first clip addresses the egregious former congressman Steve King’s odious crack about how Omar could conceal a bomb in her hijab. The second clip underscores the idiocy of Marjorie Taylor Greene.

This is outrageous enough. Listen to the results that Lauren Boebert’s video generated the other day. The first part of the tape is a little fuzzy but you can hear the slurs and the death threats clearly enough starting midway through.

This is what Boebert, Greene and the rest of the disgusting people who support this kind of thinking have accomplished. Omar has had these death threats before and she handled them well. But two years ago, when the incident referenced below happened, she didn’t have the likes of Boebert and Greene after her.

Good for her. She echoed a sentiment that Martin Luther King shared, “the answer to darkness is not more darkness. The answer is light.” Absolutely. The first people that need to get enlightened are her crass colleagues in the House, who are fomenting this.

This is what got unleashed when the reality TV actor was placed on the top of the GOP ticket. They got their judges, including three on the Supreme Court, bully for that, but the price tag that this country has paid since that time is that civil discourse has plummeted into the gutter and elected officials, following Trump’s lead, have turned Congress into a cartoon.
We are the laughingstock of the world right now. We are referred to routinely as a “once great nation” by people who watch the same news that we do in other parts of the world and shake their heads. Life is not a cartoon and if government is going to be about nothing more than political theater and performance art to fundraise a buck, we are through. That’s the direction Trump and his MAGA grifting empire are taking us.
I’m not even going to ask what Kevin McCarthy is doing or where he is. He’s got his head so far up his ass it will take a proctologist to begin to set him straight.
The bottom line here is very simple: these people, Boebert, Greene, Cawthorn, Gaetz, the lot of them, don’t know where the line is drawn. They don’t. And McCarthy is providing zero leadership. He knows where the line is drawn but he doesn’t care anymore. He’s too busy rolling over for Trump and the base so he can stay in power. Where this is going to end is anybody’s guess, on these facts.
Interesting the x-tians forget what their jesus, as a Jew, would every Passover Seder listen to or recite the order to be kind to the stranger. If their jesus actually existed, it would seem modeling your life, as a x-tian, to be like his might be the thing to do. Somehow they are always the complete opposite.
