This brief moment at MAGA Woodstock may end up going down in history as a watershed moment for the GOP. It was pointed out early on when the Big Lie got rolling that it was emphatically not a good idea for the Republicans to convince their own electorate that their votes didn’t matter. That is how they lost the January 5 runoffs in Georgia.
But still the Big Lie persists. Mo Brooks is one of its progenitors. He got the ball rolling when he challenged the 2020 election formally in the House and then you remember Cruz, Hawley, the rest of them piling on. Brooks may now be thinking twice about that posture. Here’s :36 of him telling the faithful in the cow pasture that they must put 2020 election fraud behind them — and they don’t want to hear it.

“Look back at it but go forward and take advantage of it.” Like the pushmi pullyou, Mo, like that? It’s like driving your car when your eyes are glued to the rear view mirror. It’s good driving to glance at your mirrors but if you can’t keep your eyes on the road ahead when driving you’re not going to get very far or do so very safely. The MAGAs don’t care about the road ahead. They’re out for revenge.
And maybe that’s what will stall the GOP in 2022. Brooks and his fellow insurrectionists were so adamant about the egregious misuse of Donald Trump and how the election was stolen. They wouldn’t let it go. They had to take it all the way to challenges from the House and Senate and then to the January 6 riot at the Capitol. We’re still talking about the election almost ten months later. Brooks created this situation but he’s not happy with it. And the MAGAs are not happy with Brooks.

When Mo Brooks starts sounding like the voice of reason, you know things have gotten bad.
What is plain to people who are outside of the cult and can see things objectively, is that the MAGAs live to see Trump magically returned to the White House. That’s their fantasy. Anybody who wants to deprive them of their fantasy and suggest that it’s time to be adults and move on to another election, is no one that they want to listen to.
The Republican party can’t have its cake and eat it, too. Either it’s time to regroup and beat the Democrats in 2022 or its time to fully embrace the Big Lie and grind the wheels of government to a halt.
Anybody who knows politics at all knows that the party in power will eventually be out of power as the political pendulum swings. But the MAGAs don’t want to flow with the pendulum. They want to smash it. Brooks and his cohorts went too far with the crazy rhetoric and cobbling together the Big Lie and maybe that reality is starting to sink in. What to do, what to do?

Geese, Mo, the complete idiot, the finest one there ever was and somehow still is …
Painting yourself into that old corner was a way to say your goose is cooked, walk out on the fresh paint, with a major job to fix it later, needing new shoes as well, OR if you are lucky to have enough room left, sit and wait for a solitary day or two for the floor enamel to set beyond tracking problems … really difficult with three cups of coffee + one tall glass of ice water, an impatient problem in the works …
If these brutal confrontations were not so indicative of the failing dangerous monster out there, cleaning and oiling their weapons, loading magazines, putting razor edges on their military grade sheath knives … people like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz are NOT putting on any brakes, just pouring gasoline on the burning GOP, a self-made suicide inferno with only ashes left in the end …
When the courts finally deliver the pink slips to Trump and his clan, all the complicit Republicans they catch as well, the big statement will be, “What just happened?”,.
They already know the answer and sweating bullets comes to mind, the truth is, the lies, the grift, and the biggest setup and fail, EVER, in the history of our Congress and WH, has reached the point of no return, the fuse is waterproof and burning nicely, dotting all the I’s and crossing all the T’s is going to make those court appearances quite entertaining …
With some of the finest lawyers in our House, and now the wrinkles are getting ironed out at the DOJ, some of the most annoying and loud Republicans are either dead from Covid-19. or looking at a few years in prison …
To Hampton Stevens: How about Doctor Frankenstein, I think that’s a perfect metaphor for creating a monster you are later unable to control! Republican/Fascists, as ye sow so shall you reap
