Maybe the GOP is doing recruitment in insane asylums. If not, they might as well start, because nobody is going to be able to tell the difference, when they look at the roster of candidates seeking office on the GOP ticket in 2022.

Marco Rubio is not exactly dazzling Floridians right now and so he’s got a primary opponent, Luis Miguel, who is amplifying January 6 conspiracy theory to unbelievable levels. This has to be read to be believed.

This is a double portion of lunacy, one, taking an anti-police, anti-FBI stance, and two, mischaracterizing the insurrectionists as innocents, merely taking orders from the police. You believe this?

And then the other portion, implying political prisoners are being beaten in dungeons is just off the walls. This man is not well. I never thought I would find myself endorsing Marco Rubio, but that day has dawned, if this is the choice we’re left with.

This is an anti-Darwin kind of a situation, survival of the craziest. Or, maybe craziest is fittest in GOP parlance these days. That seems to make sense as well.

The real problem with this is that Donald Trump needs to keep amplifying the Big Lie and so he’s going to tighten his grip on the GOP by doing so, and that’s what you’re seeing here. The Trump panderers are making the scenario darker and crazier and more un-American than can be believed, because that bolsters Trump’s stance on 1/6.

This is one race to keep an eye on.

  1. Ignoring that most of the 1/6 insurrectionists are out on bail, or on their own recognizance, and the ones who aren’t are too effing dangerous to be out.
If they were let in by the cops, why are so many on record attacking cops? Ha Miguel even noticed the many photos and videos of what actually happened, or does he get all his info from OAN?

  2. If true conservative republicans formed their own party and left the GOP to the nut jobs that are infiltrating it by the hour, we might be able to save this country and our democracy.

    • Won’t happen. The “mainstream” GOP had the chance to tell the nut jobs to form their own party back in 2010 when the Teabagger nuts started making waves. Instead, because McConnell and the rest were afraid they might lose the political power they had, they embraced the kooks.

That, in a nutshell, is why McConnell and the rest of the “sane” GOPers keep the nuts around.
