The oldest political adage in the book is that Democrats fall in love and Republicans fall in line. Rick Wilson has always said that Democrats suck at politics. It’s an absolute that the mentality of the two parties is night and day. Democrats are the namby pamby, “it’s not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game” types, and Republicans know the real score, that there’s no room for morality, just win at any cost. Now, more than ever, these divergent views don’t bode well for the immediate future.
2/ They can't possibly look inside the reality of that day and maintain the Big Lie. They can't admit to the clear causality of Trump unleashing his mob. It opens them to personal, moral, and political liability for that day.

4/ For them, the problem wasn't an attack on our republic and a democratic election. For Kevin and Co, the problem was that it didn't work the first time. They need the shock and awe, the spectacle, the Trumphadi terror threat out there.

6/ Even now, too many think policy will save them. "But our climate plan" or "but our control gun plan" or "but our daycare plan" isn't politics. It's masturbation.
The bad guys are willing to send people to kill you and you respond with a white paper? GTFO.

8/ Here's what you don't get; the Trump GOP as comprised today isn't stupid. It's evil. They're smart. They'll play to your goodwill and instinct for a bipartisan veneer on the Jan 6th issue.
They're conning you.

10/ Washington is a city desperate for an illusion of normalcy and old-school transactional politics. The 2022 election will be defined by someone, very soon. If you want it to be about Antifaaaaaaaaaaaaa and BLM and imaginary conspiracy horseshit, keep on delaying.

Unfortunately for Rick Wilson, I understand him just fine. And frankly he needs to either fall in line behind Liz Cheney or shut the eff up. Why do I say this? Because that little rant is an encapsulation of how we got here in the first place. And people like HIM were pushing that same strategy then too. Don’t know about anyone else but I have higher aspirations than just to repeat the cycle once again with different players.
The most disappointing thing about Rick Wilson is that he has proven to be a counselor without a leader, a zealot without a true cause, a would-be influencer without any real influence. And rather than take the time and trouble to correct this by working on the sane parts of his political affiliation, he’s wasting EVERYONE’S time, his included, by alternately cozying up to and spitting on the Democratic powers-that-be. I have no more time for him and his ongoing identity crisis.
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT .. every word..
I WILL USE AS HEADER on my FB Post please! RICK WILSON is a Big Mouth with nothing to say. Darn Right @RickWilson JOIN#Liz or go silent.
So then you are all for irrelevant ad hominem over substantive points. The question is whether Wilson is wrong, not whether you like him. It is very far from a perfect comment. In fact, Wilson believes we should take the situation seriously. Bareshark has said time and again that we do not need to be the least bit concernd about the situation. He is mischaracterizing Wilson’s advice.
People like him have apologized for their part in creating the problem. It is silly to ad hominem him. Address his points instead.
I agree with dana f. Don’t ad hominin Mr. Wilson (well, maybe a little), but instead address his points. I’ve thought for several years now that the Republicans are “playing a zero-sum game” and the Democrats just don’t get that. How do you resist against a zero-sum game? How should the Democrats react react? These are the questions what I want answers to, because if the Republicans do regain power in 2022 or 2024 by their tactics, our democracy is OVER!
So please, address the issues rather than complain about Mr. Wilson.
“more divergent views don’t well for the future”? WTF? Divergent views are what makes the Democratic party what it is-The Democratic Party. If differing viewpoints were not welcome, hell, it’d be the republican party.
And yes, I’m getting a little tired of the squad haring off meaningless nonsense but that doesn’t change what our party is and I’m guessing always will be. Do I wish they’d take care of the important business looking at us square in the eyes (i.e. voting rights, infrastructure, healthcare, REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS)? Hella yeah. But I guess with divergent views comes the herding of cats. The problem isn’t the different views, it’s the leadership or perhaps lack thereof. Maybe Chuck and Nancy need to be replaced with people capable of saying to folks like Bernie, the squad, blue dogs: “Yes, we’ll get to your sh*t in a bit but first let’s take care of the important business at hand”, with an appropriate stick to make sure it gets done.
Spike, I agree with you 100%! Yours is the voice of reason here!
