If you think that the Republican party is now going to go through a period of self reflection and ponder whether it really wants this black eye as the party of sedition, white supremacy and the Trump cult of personality, don’t waste your time. They’re happy to be there. In fact, they’re looking to capitalize on exactly where they are and expand their ranks accordingly.
The latest wingnut to attempt to rise in the party is Katrina Pierson, whom you may recall from her bullet necklace, which she liked to wear as an icon of personality. You could say that she paved the way for Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene, isn’t that reassuring? In any event, Pierson is considering a run for Texas congressman Ron Wright’s old seat, which is now vacant, because Wright was a COVID denier and he paid the price for that delusion with his life. Several sources say Pierson has held advanced conversations with a top Republican consulting firm about plans to enter the race in the coming days.
Those sources said they expected Pierson to receive Trump’s backing when she enters the race, a huge boost to any candidate running in a Republican primary decided by voters deeply enamored of the former president.
“There is a lot of excitement about my potential candidacy, and I am honored to have so much local support. As a proven conservative fighter, from my home state of Texas, I remain committed to furthering the America First agenda. I was with President Trump long before the historic escalator ride, and I remain with him still. I will make my final decision within the next 48 hours,” Pierson said in a text message to The Hill on Sunday.
Oh, and well there should be excitement at this announcement. My word. This is the woman who called Barack Obama the “Head Negro” and lamented the fact there weren’t any racially “pure breed” candidates running for president in 2012.
Pierson in a since-deleted 2012 tweet had written, “Perfect Obama’s dad born in Africa, Mitt Romney’s dad born in Mexico. Any pure breeds left?”
On CNN in 2016 she was asked about the tweet and defended by suggesting it wasn’t racist because she herself is a “half-breed.”
In 2013 Pierson called President Barack Obama the “head Negro,” and in 2012 a “Jihadi.”
In August of 2016 Pierson lied about then-President Barack Obama, claiming he, and not President George W. Bush, had started the war in Afghanistan. Obama was a state senator when Bush started that war.
The only idiocy that tops that is a Trump supporter, who was asked why Obama wasn’t in the Oval Office on 9/11 and replied, “We should look into that.” We’ll save you dummies the time, Obama wasn’t president in 2001.
This is the level of moron that now feels empowered to run for high office after the era of Trump. Trump is gone but Trumpism remains. And another weed just appeared in the field.
The rot and brain-deadness is sickening. I can only hope that voters will not go for these people in large numbers.
Think about what you’ve already seen. The reality TV actor got elected in 2016. That’s all you need to know to know how lost this country is. We dodged the bullet in 2020, but I don’t see us as being out of the woods. Not after the mania at CPAC this weekend.
These immoral morons exist because AMERICA has failed to educate our citizens, worshiped leaders who have committed crimes against humanity, & have no moral compass despite claiming religious beliefs based on love, justice & the Golden rule. I have been saying since the 80’s that the dumbing down of America and the erosion of the educational system is to blame for all of this. We have people being graduated from high school that have never read a book and think that a calculator will take care of all math, financial matters. They can’t think, is the problem. That’s why conspiracy theory is so vibrant these days. It gives an explanation for life.
