Trump has talked up having a “beautiful” wall along the entire southern border of the U.S. since back when he was a 2016 Presidential candidate. It would be of course the most beautiful wall anyone’s ever seen. And Mexico would pay for it! Alas, his wall project floundered (this IS Trump after all) and never got built. Mexico didn’t pay one cent for what did get built. However thanks to voters in the southwest as of this week there now IS a wall along the entire southern border. A beautiful BLUE wall of border states now all controlled by Democrats!
That’s right folks. California was a state that was already deep blue. New Mexico was also blue. Arizona? Well, it’s trended Democrat’s way in recent cycles but was either light pink or purple depending on how you chose to interpret which Party held what state and national offices. Texas has been cruel to Democrats’ hopes for several cycles now. It was a given that statewide offices and both chambers of the legislature would stay red but there were hopes of picking up a Senate seat. Hopes that crashed and burned.
Then came November 3, 2026. What a difference a day, an election day makes! However let’s start with Arizona where we already held both U.S. Senate Seats and the Governorship and Secretary of State seats. No Senate seats were on the ballot but nine Congressional seats were and Democrats won five of them. At the state level Democrats won both the Governor and Lt. Governor (a newly created office) races, as well as the Secretary of State, Attorney General, State Treasurer, Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Mine Inspector offices. Wow! Let’s not forget the state legislature. According to Cronkite News they will almost certainly control both chambers of the state legislature, giving them the ‘trifecta’ of the Governor’s Mansion and the legislature. Arizona has become a true blue state.
Moving on we have New Mexico which was already a pretty blue state. Democrats won the Senate Race and their House delegation will be Democrats. At the state level Democrat Deb Haaland will be the nation’s first Native American Governor, and Democrats will also control the legislature by a wide margin. Another trifecta.
Now let’s talk about Texas. As a lifelong Cubs fan I know all too well the sinking feeling of getting close to making the post-season only to fall short, and in agonizing fashion. That ‘next year will be the year’ feeling. When it comes to Democrats winning one of those Senate seats it has also been a case of ‘next year’ (in this case election instead of year) but lo and behold it’s NEXT YEAR! Democrats won a U.S. Senate seat and a helluva lot more. As Newsweek reports Democrats cleaned up with the statewide offices and ran the table. They won every single one. Moreover, like in New Mexico Texas’ new Governor has made history, being the first Latina woman to hold a Governorship! Because this is Texas I’ve seen a number of social media memes mocking conservatives for being ‘justified’ with their transphobia – Texas’ Gov. was a dude when he went to work and was a gal by the time the day was done!
Well, if all that wasn’t enough, Texas Democratic voters also did a number on the GOP’s decades long control of the state legislature too. Soon to be former Gov. Abbott dutifully took the lead when Trump told red states to redistrict their House seats and Texas created give new districts to add to their delegation. They lost them all. Worse, getting back to the state legislature it’s virtually certain Democrats will control the state House chamber, although it seems the GOP will hold onto control of the Senate chamber. Still, it puts Democrats in position to make changes. And for good measure, four Texas Supreme Court seats were up for grabs and Democrats won all of them! So if Texas, unlike the other three southern border states doesn’t have the ‘trifecta’ of control for the moment Texas is also blue,
Republicans there and nationwide are horrified at the prospect of starting the 2028 Electoral College count with the two top prizes, California and Texas being in the Democratic column. New York too. Only Florida of the top four states is likely to be blue and that might turn out to be a maybe. But without Texas there is no path to an electoral college victory for the GOP in 2028.
Getting back to Trump and his dream of a beautiful wall on the southern border as I said, he got a wall alright. A BLUE one. Trump, via his actions motivated the hell out of Democrats, pushed a healthy percentage of Independents to vote for Democrats and even some Republicans too. Or they just were so fed up with his broken promises and didn’t bother to vote or voted third Party. Trump DID wind up building a wall spanning the entire southern border of the country. It’s not just how he intended it to look. It’s massive alright, but it’s a truly beautiful BLUE wall!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
