Yep. He was overridden. Good to know that this can happen. You see, it has to do with a special NFL game in Paris. There were service members who would be attending. Petey Boy didn’t want that. He’s probably afraid of losing control and /or the military talking to the press about how much he sucks. More so the control.
It was because of the unrest in Paris (and there are other places not relevant to this event). The protests have been over the cost of living. We can empathize with that. But we don’t go around burning vehicles and buildings. We most certainly do protest. The State Department said there was no indication of any danger to Americans or, more generally, anyone from the US. That seems like it’s saying the same thing twice.
Considering all the nonsense that’s going on with the Forever War, we can hope that they blame Trump and not the military, although the same questions may be asked about why they follow illegal orders. It would be a *peaceful* show for the American military. It might smooth some of the feathers that Trump has so emphatically ruffled. And it would be helpful diplomatically.
This is the first time news has been seen about a football game overseas. Their football is what we call soccer, which is much more interesting than American football. It’s not exactly something one would think to take overseas. But they’re going, and Paris can have all of them they want. So to speak. It all depends on your taste.
It really does seem a bit odd that Hegseth had such a fit about the American military going. It’s not as if there’s an active war going on except in Iran. But there is a lot going on with our people in the Middle East, some of which is being hidden. To find out how truly unprepared we were at our various bases was highly disturbing.
If he’s so worried about Paris, then he should just find a way to go himself. Maybe it would give our knowledgeable, experienced military leaders some peace and quiet for a bit. We would hope he would know enough to keep his mouth shut in public and not cause a diplomatic incident, which, come to think of it, would be a stretch for him. He was so impatient to have Eisenhower’s globe…
There really does have to be some way to get rid of him. It’s a coin toss as to who to try for first, Trump or Hegseth. If Petey Boy was given the heave-ho, would Trump pick someone worse? Well, it’s all up in the air until after Election Day.
Just discovered there have been American football games in other countries already. How do they handle the jet lag? And lawdy, the luggage required! Our military has been part of those. Hegseth needs to calm down, sit down, and shut up. He’s made enough of a mess of the military. It’s going to take them a while to come back after him. Let’s not get into the munitions used up. We need him OUT OF THERE. And he lost to the State Department. Yes!
