[Just found out this already happened. And Bernie was along (?!).]

AOC is heading into red Michigan with Abdul El-Sayed to do a couple of town halls. He’s not doing horribly, but AOC is pretty well liked and respected overall, so it should certainly be a boost. Yes, there’s the whole thing about “The Squad” and socialism and green and so forth. There are viewpoints that Republicans hold that could be considered just as “radical”. How about Trump can do no wrong? Yes, that.

Kickoff point from Raw Story.

Or maybe it’s a personal thing with me. Either way, she’s hitting the road with him. It’s going to draw attention, and that should bring more people to their town halls. Even just the chance of flipping a couple of votes these days is something. The specific areas are deep red. He does not apologize for being progressive. It’s not a bad way to be.

We have been stuck in a rut since Republicans took control of Congress, and then Trump being re-elected because people were stupid, or those unable to bear a woman as president, which has multiplied this selfish, grifting, asshole, insane government that has beaten down the American people. Life went to hell the day Trump took back the office and pardoned all the J6 rioters. It’s only getting worse.

It’s become a major stretch to believe *any* Republican cares about we the people. Even the ones who said they would push back have caved. It’s disappointing, but not surprising, which is yet another reason it’s almost impossible to believe anything red is good, except maybe a winter sweater.

We can’t promise Democrats will be able to do “everything,” but we can sure as hell promise we’ll try. Republicans don’t want to tip the apple cart. They’re perfectly happy with the status quo. Tipping that cart and making cider is a good way to go. Cider is good. We also can’t promise all Democrats will be “good”. It would be nice, but no promises, and so they won’t be broken. The mills of Congress grind (very) slowly.

There was not enough time to find a broadcast since I started working on this in mid-afternoon. Incidentally, the name of El-Sayed’s bus travels is “Shouldn’t Be This Hard,” which is something someone should hang on to because it doesn’t have just one meaning. It’s also clever and incredibly appropriate.

We can’t be certain we are going to flip Congress, which makes something like what Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Abdul El-Sayed, and Bernie Sanders are doing even more important. Yes, there’s much historical precedent. But. Having a firebrand like AOC out and about means that she will not put up with any nonsense. She will tell it like it is, which has to be a blessing after the Republican namby-pambys. There are going to be some surprised people. And she’ll be a good influence on El-Sayed. Adding in Bernie is a bonus. He’s no small fry. Remember how the AOC-Bernie show was such a hit this summer? I’d like to bet that all three of them together were something amazing.

I’m definitely only partway back to 100% because writing this was a lot harder than I was expecting. It was very, very frustrating. I’m going to stop pushing and close this down. And yes, I know I’ve changed tenses all over the place. Time to go back to bed, so hopefully I will be able to go do the vote early thing on Saturday. Or, there’s next weekend. No one had best get in my way because I’m determined. I’ve missed everyone. Yeah, I’m starting to be train-of-thought instead of coherent. Goodnight.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
