This has caused a whole lot of excitement. This was completely unexpected and caught everyone flat-footed. This person was known to be completely loyal to Trump, yet resigned from the prosecutor position he had completely out of the blue. What happened here? Even though we are on the outside of this action, it still seems strange. There is a lot we don’t know and have no way to know yet.
And it makes AG Blanche look very, very bad. A loyalist left. What was going on in the background that we don’t know about yet? What did Blanche do that precipitated this decision? The whole thing is unusual. We need to know what we didn’t see or haven’t seen yet. We know Blanche is done for, so corrupt that he will do whatever Trump wants, including turning the DoJ into Trump’s personal attack dog. There are so many stupid accusations for the smallest things (see: James Comey and seashells) in Trump’s Revenge Tour™

The Justice Department’s sudden loss of a pro-Trump loyalist prosecutor bodes ill for the president’s recently selected attorney general, former federal prosecutor Harry Litman wrote on Monday. Joseph DiGenova has refused to explain the reasoning for his departure, but the mere fact that he chose to leave speaks volumes, Litman argued, and is a “devastating verdict” on Attorney General Todd Blanche’s leadership. In other words, Litman said, DiGenova “is one of the president’s own.” DiGenova, wrote Litman, is in his 80s now and doesn’t want his life’s legacy to be overshadowed by a goose chase for Trump’s enemies.
WHAM. That’s harsh, coming from someone loyal to Trump for that long. He doesn’t want to be involved in this nebulous chase. There really does come a time when you have to say “enough” and move on. He was so loyal for so long. He’s had a long, storied career. Let him enjoy the time he has left. He was involved in things we would dislike, like working for “Stop the steal,” even though it was not stolen at all.
We may never know the actual reason he left. That’s going to stay under wraps. We can be 99% positive on that. But considering how Blanche has turned the DoJ into an attack dog, *he* should be having second thoughts about the mess he made. He’s confirmed and is now the face of the DoJ. Bet he didn’t think about that part. He thought about the power. He didn’t think about the downside. So any blame for something Trump does is going to get shifted right over to Blanche because Trump is never the problem. Blanche is going to be very busy for a while. And he’s lost one of the DOJ’s top people. Oops.
