Some of them are just as offended as we are. This whole renaming of bodies of water has got to stop. Lake America is just the tip of the iceberg. Tie this in with all the vanity projects in D.C.; it’s definitely tied into this. Yes, seriously, he wants to have his own place in history, but the way he’s doing so is ridiculous. No one is going to call it the Gulf of America or Lake America. This is so petty and whiny. Make it stop so we can get rid of his “legacy.”
Let’s hope there are things we can tear down and things we can restore when he‘s gone. The Kennedy Center is highly concerning, especially with the new Trump lackeys doing whatever they want. We could create a list of all his shizzle that needs to be fixed. Start with the Reflecting Pool. Please. If only we could get someone higher up who would take the big step of replacing the water handling system. (It’s been a problem for decades.)
It seems to be a day for random thoughts to take over and sidetrack our conversation regarding the pissed-off voters. CNN had a section where they talked to some people about the renaming of Lake Ontario, and they didn’t hold back. With respect to Raw Story:
Supporters of President Donald Trump are rejecting his renaming of Lake Ontario and delivered a fiery rebuke when asked about it. “I’ve been on his side all the way, right from day one, but I think he’s losing it here,” the supporter said. “I just assume that it remains Lake Ontario.”
Republican Mayor Robert Corradino of Oswego, New York, similarly saw “no practical, historical, or cultural need to change” the name to Lake America. “Preserving the name Lake Ontario is part of preserving who we are,” he said. During an interview on the CNN segment, Corradino explained, “This has become a big issue. I didn’t realize that it was going to be a big issue, but it really hits to the heart of our residents here in Oswego.”
BOOM. That’s just two comments. Lake Ontario should stay exactly how it is. The Province of Ontario came well after the lake was named. It’s part of culture, and it’s part of history. The name itself has been around for at least 300 years, possibly as long as 400. Trump needs to get over himself with the ridiculous temper tantrum. Except for one company that is making two different maps: one for the US and one for everything else, so there are 2 different names depending on where you are. Almost everyone is going to continue calling it Lake Ontario.
Make it stop. We have a ‘president’ who is regressing towards a three-year-old. He’s wrecking America. He is WRECKING America. Hello, Buyer’s Remorse? No, we’re sorry, but you made the decision to put him back in office. There isn’t anything to be done. You’ll have to hope he doesn’t make us any worse off than he has now.
That’s one thing about his vanity projects that’s good. They have enough attention to (mostly) keep him from threatening other countries, except Iran and now Canada. He does NOT need to be saying that kind of nonsense. Iran knows it’s essentially a bluff. They note the latest rant and go on about their business. Lake America is ridiculous. The people up there should go on business as usual and ignore his whining.
[EDIT: Now he wants to change New Mexico to New America. What, huh?]
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. This reminds me of so many things during his first term. He would say things and I thought “but it’s not up to you”. The trouble is nobody in authority is saying that to his face.
Oh HELL NO!!! He cannot just change the name of a state because he hates Mexicans! New Mexico would never go along with that! New Navajo, maybe, but not New America!! Somebody needs to stop this imbecile!!
