It came out today. Trump and Hegseth’s “War On NarcoTerrorists” hasn’t succeeded. Even after we had planes going out to use missiles on small boats that only hold a few people. And using up *more* missiles that we probably need elsewhere. We could certainly get them to the ships with the Iran blockade. Well, we would expect something could still be needed for them. But what?
Blowing boats out of the water has been going on for a year now. Let’s hope there were changeouts, and they weren’t stuck like the USS Lincoln. An entire year could very well drive a lot of people bonkers. One would think it would be fairly boring, except when someone has to go kill a small boat. It’s pointless.
Those strikes were not necessary because Venezuela is definitely *not* known for fentanyl. They generally smuggle cocaine, which is relatively “boring” compared to fentanyl. The Coast Guard could handle stopping and inspecting those boats. That’s part of their job. Why was that not done? No missiles needed, or whatever they’ve been using. It was pointless. The Navy against a small motorboat? Get real, Hegseth.

The authors say suspected traffickers are at worst criminals, not combatants, and that treating them as military targets stretches both domestic and international law past recognition. The Posse Comitatus Act generally bars the Pentagon from conducting civilian law enforcement, which is exactly why Congress has long relied on the Coast Guard, not the military, to handle maritime drug interdiction. “Dead suspects cannot be questioned. Destroyed vessels cannot be searched,” the authors wrote.
The authors argue the U.S. already had an effective, lawful model for fighting traffickers through Coast Guard-led interdiction — and that abandoning it for military strikes isn’t a show of strength, but a dangerous departure from the principles that once set America apart.
The Coast Guard can do the job just fine if Hegseth gets his butt away from there. How many of us have been screaming about the whole thing? It wasn’t necessary to put the military on this. That’s overkill, no pun intended. And don’t forget about the survivors who were taken down by a second missile strike.
Hegseth needs to stop with this nonsense. It did not work. But he could puff out his chest and talk about the “war” against drugs he’s won, *and* the skills of people flying for this “mission” against narcoterrorists. Take a look around, Petey Boy. You might actually find things to understand about the war on drugs and what *actually* happens with them. We know some of the paths for smuggling drugs into America. But it certainly doesn’t mean small boats. Now it’s up to Trump and Hegseth to get them out of there. If they ever do. Waste of time, munitions, and money.
