A glorious day it will be if the prediction is true! There are rumors about who will be the first to go, because Trump generally starts changing out the guard around the midterms. His cabinet has been fairly stable thus far. It’s a bit surprising because things were much more of a mess at this point, halfway through his first term. The current leader is, yes, Pete Hegseth!
There won’t be any broken hearts if Hegseth gets punted. He’s screwed up in so many ways. But … if he didn’t get gone for SignalGates, or the flop of the war, or calling in everyone from all over the world to scream and strut and rant and rave, it’s not necessarily a done deal. The Pentagon is pretty unhappy with him, just for the lie detector tests, because the boy is *paranoid*.
That leads us to vendettas and the people he fired. No rhyme or reason, just fired them. Or the women and people of color whom he refused to promote. He probably didn’t want them to show him up. And the whole shaving thing, which is ridiculously petty. Is he worried about people talking behind his back? Well, he should be. The more time goes by, the more he shows what a horrible leader he is. Since he won’t listen to his top military people, he keeps making a mess of things. Then he fires them so he doesn’t have to take the blame. He always tries to shunt it off on someone else.
Then we move to the war crimes. Going back and hitting a ship again that had survivors clinging to it. Killing civilians in Iran. Those are just the start.
Definition: International humanitarian law, including agreements like the Geneva Conventions and the Hague Conventions, sets rules for war. These rules protect people who are not fighting, such as civilians and medical personnel, as well as prisoners of war. When a combatant breaks these core rules, it becomes an individual criminal offense.
Obviously, there’s a whole lot more to it, but some of the examples on the list from a search are spot on. Trump doesn’t get away, either. He is just as responsible. But the International Criminal Court may disagree with this theory. And the whole Iran War is illegal anyhow! Too bad Congress is controlled by lemmings who follow after their master.
So much appreciation for Raw Story:
Multiple White House insiders have named the same Trump Cabinet member they believe will become the administration’s first “midterm political casualty” and predicted the official will be fired before Thanksgiving, former Obama campaign aide Christopher Hale claimed Sunday night. “Today’s Washington Post report makes [Hegseth’s imminent firing] all the more likely,” Hale wrote.
Oh, hail yes. But this is also the same issue about getting Trump out of office, or Noem’s firing – will the replacement be worse? Markwayne is worse. Or would we be lucky enough to get a real military leader for the Pentagon? The jury is out on that one. A military leader would be the best choice, but best is not what Trump is known for. This wait-and-see is getting tiring. Let’s hope for Hegseth to get gone and someone decent to be put in his place, shall we?
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
