Where do they find these people? They are so focused on one tiny thing when there is so much more to tell the public. It’s a waste of time to pay attention to them. The 0.01% who actually have something worth saying are one thing. The rest, spare us. Go take classes on how to be unbiased (not that it will work). Then maybe we would listen. Maybe.
There is a whole hoo-rah about the piece released yesterday regarding the war with Iran. The generals have said it’s unsustainable, especially if they have to keep 50,000 troops there for a possible land attack. We all know that it would be a bloodbath, but it seems Hegseth can’t or won’t see that. Therein is the problem.
Hegseth thinks he knows what he’s doing. He and Trump said they have plans for Iran, but there have been no signs of them in 6 months, pretty much since the first attack. The military leaders have finally been able to tell him that we can’t keep going. Until we have some sort of press release, or something like that, we won’t know what they were thinking before now. And the boat strikes – what about those, too? We may never know.
Now we have this RWNJ having a fit about the “leak” about “Petey Boy stop now”. It cannot have occurred to him that maybe the American people WANT to know it has to be ended. Let’s have a show of hands across the country for who wants to be OUT of the Iran War! …. That’s a pretty good number, more than half, for sure. Yes, kidding, but the point remains.

Marc Thiessen, who joined the Post as a columnist after a stint as a spokesperson for Sen. Jesse Helms (R-NC) and serving as a speechwriter for President George W. Bush, announced he wants a criminal investigation of Horton and Copps sources — leaving open whether they should be prosecuted also. On X, he linked to the WaPo announcement of the “exclusive ” story and accused, “Whoever leaked this is a traitor and ought to be prosecuted.”
That’s extreme. And no criminal investigation. Plus, we can bet the reporters will keep their sources VERY confidential. It was bound to come out at some point, because these things always do. The question is whether or not Hegseth listened. We have gone through so much of everything with our military that Hegseth *really* ought to have a clue by now that this is untenable. There’s not too much hope for that. So little has been accomplished. Hegseth may actually be that oblivious, since he fired or held back a whole lot of good military talent.
Does Thiessen have any actual information on what’s *actually* happening over there? Or is he just talking out of the wrong side of his mouth? The words he uses are interesting. Traitor. Criminal investigation. Punished. It could be something as simple as jealousy, because he didn’t get the story. Whatever the reason, he’s an idiot and belongs in the “ignore” side of the room.
