Do not get on her bad side or be in opposition, because she will wipe the floor with you. Ms. Psaki is absolutely brilliant. She knows politics all the way back to the Dark Ages, and we should be pleased she is on the side of Democrats, although she has no hesitation in calling *anyone* out. Would that we all could be this well-spoken.
She’s come down on Big Tech, and with good reason. All the sucking up to Trump is a bit embarrassing now. They thought it would earn them favors. It didn’t work out that well. About the only thing they got was tax breaks, which screwed up the rest of the country. Whoop-de-doo. It’s not like they’d notice if they paid taxes like the rest of us do. It could potentially help Social Security, one would think. But no.
“Now, what was our new normal in this country?” said Psaki. “There was no going back. And American corporations and institutions all had to rush to get on board with his agenda. We watched big, powerful law firms rush to bend the knee to Trump, giving in to nearly every demand. We saw the same thing from major media organizations that settled bogus lawsuits, paid millions of dollars, and caved to his intimidation tactics. But one of the most prominent displays, she said, came from Big Tech, as Silicon Valley “tripped all over themselves to grovel before the mad king.”
The mad king. What a beautiful way to describe Trump! He is mad, and we’re not talking about anger here. He’s nuts, and all we can do is watch the downhill slide. But we did have institutions and law firms fight back. And they won. That must have grated on Trump back at the beginning. He’s likely forgotten about it now, unless he looks at his bank balance, which is ridiculously high. If anyone believed he wouldn’t control his money while being president, what galaxy are they in? We knew exactly what he would be like. But half the country wanted him back. That’s going to grate on us for decades.
“They cowered before him like he and the MAGA world he created were going to reign all-powerful for a thousand years moving forward”. Ultimately, of course, this didn’t happen, said Psaki — his tariffs and Iran war stagnated the economy, while his personal scandals and his attempts to bulldoze D.C. for monuments to himself triggered widespread backlash. After all of the prostration before Trump by Big Tech, said Psaki, “the illusion of Trump’s lasting power and influence has completely faded away, and now even members of his own party are trying to wash some of the Trump stink off of themselves.”
Yes. There are a whole lot of people backing away from Trump. And White House staff who are getting out while “the getting is good”, because midterms are going to be a disaster for them. The turnover for Trump has actually been low, considering how bad it was in the first term. But he still has time to lose his mind for another 2 years and a couple of months. The days are dragging, waiting for him to get out of office. A lot of us are pinning our hopes on the turnaround at midterms. It will make him even lamer when the Democrats take over. If we can get started on fixing some things, it will be a start. There are some things that won’t be fixed for decades, if at all. Trump has made a mess of the world. Big Tech has figured out they screwed up. Sorry not sorry, guys. “You’ve made your bed. Now you get to lie in it.” Serves them right.
