And he had to do so on live television. Didn’t it used to be his bailiwick? Oz as a TV physician? He’s a fraud, and we know that.  He’s also a fraud about fraud. That isn’t the issue at hand today. This one is something that he couldn’t dodge answering, and it would have been great to see as it happened. Ah, well, print will have to do. My regards to Raw Story:

A stammering Dr. Mehmet Oz was forced to contradict President Donald Trump when grilled on live television Sunday. The administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services was unable to avoid refuting Trump’s recent claim amid an on-air grilling from Margaret Brennan on “Face the Nation.” After much dodging, Oz admitted, “The MMR vaccine is not a lethal vaccine.”

How many years have we had that vaccine? And how much good has it done? It’s almost immeasurable. My family all got it, and if we had children, they would have had it. Our children happen to have 4 legs and fur, so their vaccines are different. Vaccines were created for very good reasons! Note how we have an active measles epidemic going on because people didn’t get it. The point remains.

Vaccines do not cause autism. That’s much more complex, with the why and how still being worked out. But they don’t “cause” it. That’s one of the most far-fetched reasons to date. Water doesn’t cause it, and you drink water. Food, unless it’s spoiled, is something everyone needs. But that doesn’t cause it either. We don’t know. This is an “easy” answer, but then*which* one is it? Would it be a single or a combination? It’s easy to go down the rabbit hole theorizing why.

Oz was forced to make this clarification after Trump addressed the nation with a speech that included factually inaccurate Make America Healthy Again talking points. His topic was the Measles, Mumps, Rubella 3-in-1 vaccination shot — which he signed an executive order to break up. “The president twice said that the shot may be lethal,” she told Oz. “Do you want to clarify that?” Oz started to stutter. “The p-p-president wants Americans — he said this many times — to get vaccinated as their doctors recommend.”

He admitted it was not lethal. We knew that. Trump is full of it. It’s yet another theory, like autism, that Trump gets stuck in his head and refuses to let go. There’s a longer write-up of this on Raw Story itself. It’s not a lethal vaccine. Good grief.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. That whole “vaccines –> autism” crap was debunked less than a year after it was published (and the journal that did publish it apologized and introduced new guidelines that would keep such junk out of the journal from then on).
