That’s one thing you can say about Trump. He’s always coming up with something weird and wacky (mostly wacky) to keep us entertained. This does not include the crass remarks like the one he came out with about the USS Lincoln. He was difficult to figure out before. Now he’s impossible, in more ways than one. No list needed because we all have one. There are some lists still going on, but your bird is trying to clean up her act. Hence, No Nukes from last week. This one here is, shall we say, a little more lightweight. Much gratitude to Raw Story for the springboard:

CNN’s Abby Phillip was left baffled after President Donald Trump suggested a military intervention to tame turmoil in the bond market. On CNN NewsNight, Phillip aired footage of Trump fielding reporters’ questions about Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s bond market intervention. Bessent more than doubled the volume of U.S. bonds the department plans to buy back after yields climbed steadily since the start of the Iran war, reporting by Mediaite noted.

There’s the opener. Trump made a really random, wacky comment that should have everyone scratching their heads. He said two things related to each other when they’re not even in the same galaxy. Why is this different from any other day? Because of the ridiculous non sequitur jump he made. Any normal person (normal being the operative word) would never have put these together. But as Trump’s mind slips away, they’re getting much more commonplace.

One reporter asked whether Trump had directed Bessent to step into the market. Another reporter asked if he considered “another type of intervention,” which prompted an odd response from Trump. “We have many types of intervention,” Trump responded. “The ultimate intervention is our military. And if we have to use that, we will.”

Wait. What? That’s weird *and* wacky. There is no possible way those two should be in the same paragraph. Could someone please explain how a military intervention is possible for the *bond market*? That’s confusing for everyone but Trump. Perhaps he meant to send Petey Boy to threaten the market, and even that is a stretch. Seriously?

Yup, this is a one-trick pony, but nothing like starting Saturday night with some fun. Regression is done for the day. And if anyone knows how to use the military to intervene in the bond market, please share.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
