Actually, three things. We know he is sliding into dementia or something of the sort. We know his health is poor (except when he wants to play golf, which means he’s going to do so one way or another). We know he is trying to make his place in history: the damn ballroom and the “gold” in the Oval Office, and the Arc de Trump, and Trump’s Pond, which used to be the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool that is now closed to the public, which is ridiculous, which is why it’s now the pond. But wait! There’s more! With appreciation for Raw Story:

President Donald Trump has developed a horrifyinglittle ticas his poll numbers continue to sink, according to two analysts. Trump, whose mental health seems to be deteriorating, has increasingly relied on what the president refers to as hisreal poll numbersto convince himself that the American people are still with him, analysts Sean Wilentz and Sidney Blumenthal noted on their podcast “The Court of History.” Trump’s “real poll numbers” suggest he has a greater-than-60% approval rating, even though polls from Quinnipiac and the University of Chicago measured his support at closer to 30%, the analysts noted.

Trump has always been obsessed to ridiculous levels about poll numbers. He used to see them as they actually were. But he started losing touch when he started saying everything is great, inflation is down, even back before the tariff debacle. When the tariffs backfired and the economy started the nose dive, then he kept saying the economy was great. He said the tariffs were making us money, which was baloney. But being as he doesn’t live like us peon Americans do, we knew it was nonsense every single day. Even MAGA noticed.

Oh my god,” Wilentz said when Blumenthal shared Trump’s supposedreal poll numbers.”
What makes the situation even more horrifying is that the president seems preoccupied with comparing himself to his predecessors, another sign that he is not living in the present, Blumenthal noted. Two of the presidents that Trump has associated himself with, Herbert Hoover and Richard Nixon, are particularly revealing, Wilentz argued.

Hoover once ordered the military to remove an encampment of military veterans that had formed in Washington, D.C., to demand that the government cash their service-bonus certificates that Congress awarded them after World War I. Nixon, on the other hand, has become known as one of the most corrupt presidents in American history because of the Watergate scandal.

Well, what do you know. 11 presidents had over a 60% approval rating, including Obama. Biden came in at 57%, which is not shabby either. Thank you, Google. That’s interesting. But back to Trump and the presidents he uses as role models: they are disturbing. Of course, Trump and his grifts, the slush fund, the use of taxpayer money for debacles, banners with his face everywhere they ought not be, adding his name to the Kennedy Center and making it nose-dive, and everything else- he’s easily heading towards Nixon levels. The things he’s done to the government, law firms, schools, and then there is the Iran War. And don’t forget he’s wrecked our reputation in the entire damn world. Everything he has done has been about him. He thought the tariff money was his, to do with as he wished, even though he said it would help the entire country. People won elections or were posted to prime positions because of him. And this is ranting when it shouldn’t be.

Wilentz argued that Trump’s “little tic” of comparing himself to Hoover and Nixon is “very telling.” “He’d like to construct a government that goes beyond what Richard Nixon would have wanted to do, as horrible as it was …” Wilentz said. “He wants to go beyond that. He thinks that Nixon was a wimp. He thinks that Nixon was a wuss and that’s why he fell, and that he is going to outdo him.”

Uhoh. He may have done so already, and he certainly wants to keep going for the next 2 years and a couple of months. Trump wants to be a permanent president like his good buddy, Putin. He idolizes corrupt governments, because the right word is not coming to me. It’s not just dictators, although that could be part of it. He wants the United States of Trump. America is hardly holding together without more of his shenanigans. He is becoming increasingly worse with his mental state and physical issues. There has to be more going on. To the half of the country that put him back in office, are you happy now?

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
