All that glitters is usually fake. And so is the latest madness Trump is trying to push. America is not heading for a “GOLDEN AGE”; quite the contrary. We are heading downhill. He may not be concerned about it, but we are. People are taking desperate measures for a desperate time. Everything has gone up, nothing has come down, and he just added more tariffs. We thought he couldn’t do that anymore, but he has. With appreciation for Raw Story:
President Donald Trump, a man whose love of gold frequently reaches religious heights, has received a stark warning that his gilded age is about to end. Americans, who reported this weekend they survive by selling blood and hunting churches for toilet paper, will not be fooled by a White House website that declares they live in an, all caps, “GOLDEN AGE,” MS NOW Paul Waldman wrote Sunday. “There is one room in Washington where a ‘golden age‘ exists,” Waldman wrote. “The Oval Office, into which Trump has crammed gilded junk onto every wall and into every corner.” [NYT subscription needed for the second link.]
The “crammed gilded junk …” is worth watching all the way through because, my god, it’s excessive and flat-out ridiculous! We had no idea how bad it was, because pictures from Trump in the Oval Office don’t show it all. And the planes. There are model planes everywhere. Well, not actual model planes, but there are planes everywhere. We look at everything shown on the video, and there is nothing but disgust. All that crap isn’t necessary. On the other hand, Trump behaves like he is a king (No Kings!), so it suits him. We are fortunate it is only in one place. It could be a *lot* worse in the White House. We don’t want to see his bedroom, but it’s probably there, too. Think about the reactions of foreign dignitaries being shown into the Oval Office. Sheesh!
Trump’s economic policy has begun to hit his voter base, and they do not like what their lives have become, Waldman argued. “It’s not a recession,” warned Waldman. “For now.” Waldman’s warning comes as his administration cuts crucial social services. “The Republicans’ Big Beautiful Bill is causing millions to lose health coverage and food assistance, while food banks struggle to meet demand,” he wrote. “To top it off, his absurd war in Iran created a global energy crisis and sent gas prices spiraling upward.”
Wait for it … gee, ya THINK??!! He has done nothing good and everything bad. His net worth due to his blatant grifts. Don’t forget the Venezuela area “drug dealer” boats out of the water. We called bullsht on that after the first boat, let alone how many have followed. That news has dropped out of people’s memories. Mostly. Oh, along with the war with Iran, war crimes. We haven’t forgotten about those either. The Big Ugly Bill was discussed above. The lack of respect in ICE and CBP. The abuse of citizens. The promises we expected to be broken while the other half of the country believed him and he was proven wrong. The DoJ now belongs to Trump instead of the apolitical organization it used to be. And so forth.
Trump’s voters, Waldman wrote, haven’t forgotten the promise he made them. “In the story he told, inflation would disappear (it hasn’t), tariffs would bring a manufacturing boom (they haven’t), and everyone would thank him for creating such boundless prosperity,” Waldman wrote. Instead they’ve been treated to an awful spectacle, argued Waldman, of a ” real estate developer, TV personality and purveyor of small-time grifts” in the White House. “Since people experience the economy in their own lives, the picture the White House paints has to have at least some relationship to reality,” he wrote. “If it doesn’t, Americans may decide that not only can’t they trust what the administration says, but that the president has no idea what he’s doing.”
Heh. That’s because he *doesn’t* know what he’s doing. He thinks he does. He makes all these decisions based on this whim and that whim. But he doesn’t understand what’s happening to America, because he’s making money hand over fist, even though he supposedly gave control of his portfolio to his sons while he is in office. We know better. Remember the crypto things he’s tried that are worthless now? How many Americans lost money because of that? Or Trump Cell Phones, which have finally started shipping, are not made in America, or have a network attached. His promises weren’t worth the air he used to say them. Everything that has happened (thus far) has been completely opposite of what he said in his campaign. It’s going to stay that way. And for the people of America, well, everything is going to get worse.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
