This is getting disgusting and ridiculous. What is going on here? No one cares to preserve our cultural sites? We’re looking at another devastation by Trump’s administration, and the worst part is that it was done for DHS. Of all departments, why this one? Is it in return for the funding delays? With appreciation for Raw Story:

Political analysts and observers were outraged on Thursday after new reporting revealed that President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security bulldozed a 1,000-year-old cultural site in Arizona.

The Washington Post reported that the Trump administration’s expansion of the border wall in southern Arizona damaged a Native American archaeological site featuring a nearly 200-foot-long “intaglio,” or an etched image of a fish on the land.

The report indicates that crews drove heavy machinery over the intaglio, and satellite imagery showed a “disturbance” in the area as crews worked to build more than three miles of new wall.

That is so wrong. First, the East Wing was torn down with no warning. And now something that’s 1,000 years old is essentially destroyed. Is this new one all for Trump’s wall? It certainly seems to be at the moment. Trump doesn’t care about cultural sites.  If it’s in the way, get rid of them. He wants what he wants, and as the ‘president’, he is the most powerful person in America. It’s in the way? No problem. He’ll tell you what to do. Wreck it.

Lorraine Marquez Eiler, an elder of the Hia-ced O’odham Indigenous people, told the Post that the damage happened last week.

“If someone came to Washington and started destroying all the different sites that people in the United States revere, it’s the same thing for us,” Marquez Eiler told the outlet.

“Those things were made by our ancestors, and it’s hitting home. … For me, it’s an emotional subject,” she added.

That is not a surprise. Those of us who know and love America know exactly what an emotional subject is. Point in case? The East Wing. We still wonder if they took the pictures and so forth out before it was ripped down. Probably not. And *that* was all for Trump’s monument to himself in the form of an unneeded, unnecessary ballroom. It’s going to dwarf the rest of the White House. Here’s hoping he doesn’t decide to rip down the West Wing. So, the point is that we can easily empathize with her.

Other political analysts and observers chimed in on social media.

Damn this regime and all its lackeys to hell. This is Taliban level destruction. They should all be in prison,” political commentator Libby Spencer posted on X.

“The kind of cultural destruction that’s usually met with global condemnation when done by ISIS or other extremist groups,” journalist Emmanuel Felton posted on X.

There it is laid out. There is global condemnation that seemingly doesn’t apply to Trump.  There was no global outrage when he tore down the East Wing. It likely didn’t even have a blip on the radar of the world. That’s a pity, because we could have done something with that support. Trump and his departments have no interest in preservation. They have an interest in doing what they please. What is going to happen next?

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
