We had no idea it had gotten this bad. They are wondering if the party is going to survive because of one specific Trump decision. It seems a lot of people are turning against him because of that little escapade. It’s good for us, although whether any Republicans will vote for a Democrat at midterms is questionable. They might not vote at all. That would still be good for us, but not as much as coming over to the Democrat Dark Side (haha). Respect to Raw Story:
Republican Party activists are concerned that Donald Trump’s war with Iran will cost the party in the midterm elections and more. A Wall Street Journal report is showing Representatives and activists fretted over the longer-term impact of the war, with some suggesting voters are already turning on the party. Todd Blodgett, a Republican activist in Iowa, told the Wall Street Journal (subscription needed) that there is a “darkening” mood in his state ahead of the midterm elections.
Now, why on earth could that be? The Republicans are in power now. They are controlling America under a wannabe dictator, visibly going downhill with his megalomania and dementia. They put him (and them) back into the presidency and cabinet. They should be sitting pretty right now, correct?
“What optimism I did feel pretty much evaporated with this war,” he said. “President Trump is doing what needs to be done, but the price of fertilizer has doubled in Iowa, and gas is up 35% to 40% a gallon.” Fellow GOP member David Schweikert (R-AZ) simply said, “It looks dour.”
Wisconsin Republicans have also sounded the alarm on the party’s future with the Iran war lingering as a major issue for some voters. In Wisconsin, the state GOP’s executive committee is said to be meeting today (April 18) to discuss the leadership of Chairman Brian Schimming after a recent state supreme court loss. A statement from Schimming, seen by the WSJ, reads, “We need to focus on joining together and building our movement to advance victories in November.”
Heh. Their movement is going the wrong way, and it’s mostly (but not all) due to Trump. We see the flailing every day. The writing is on the wall. They need to work much harder to have a chance in the midterms, except for the firmly Republican seats. Although it’s possible, but not yet probable, that those seats could be at risk, too. That would be a bonus. The number of people retiring or moving to a different position in the state is a lot larger than someone might think.
Thomas Galvin, a Republican Maricopa County supervisor, has also suggested the GOP is not prepared appropriately ahead of the midterms. He said, “I think everybody would be in agreement that the Republican Party is the underdog this November.” Dade Phelan, a Republican Texas state representative, believes the party could lose enough seats in Texas alone to pave the way to a Democratic Party majority in the House of Representatives.
The MAGA movement, too, has fractured sharply over Trump’s Iran war, with prominent figures breaking ranks to oppose the conflict. Marjorie Taylor Greene called the war a betrayal of MAGA principles, while Tucker Carlson challenged GOP leaders on their lack of Iran policy knowledge.
Awww. Stupid is as stupid does. If they don’t do their actual jobs, if they don’t do the work, of course, people are going to be unhappy with them. They are coming right out and saying the quiet parts that need to be said. The reason they are unhappy is right there online and on social media. Trump should not have started this war. It was dumb from the get-go due to a lack of planning. We lost. Period. No matter what Trump claims, we lost it. It’s hitting all of us in the pocketbook, as if we didn’t have enough trouble already. So, the blue wave is rising. We hope to be able to do some good once we flip Congress. If nothing else, we could stifle Trump. And we could hope that Republicans will help. Yes, it’s a pipe dream, but the pipe is doing pretty well. We shall see what happens.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of elderly, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Interesting to me that Tuck-tuck didn’t challenge Drumpf by name on the “lack of Iran policy knowledge” since HE AND HE ALONE got us into this nonsensical war with Iran. Then again, I doubt that Tuck-tuck has much actual knowledge about Iran but it’s always easier for Fox “News” hosts (even former Fox “News” hosts) to blather and fuss and fume about the state of affairs than actually get in the really dirty business of making policy by running for office (of course, they’re even louder when their preferred party isn’t actually in charge of Congress and/or the White House).
Hmmm. I hadn’t know that nickname for Carlson. I learned about what he was saying through the article I used for this column. Since I avoid hardliners, I don’t know a lot of things. I always appreciate your comments and information/
Yes indeed, we know that Trump is the one who got this war started. Do the hardliners actually know this? Debatable.
It almost seems as if the Republicans in Congress are waiting to see how badly the GOP will lose in the midterms, so that those who do survive will be emboldened to stand up to Trump. Some may even join Democrats in impeaching and removing Trump from office (although getting two-thirds of Senators to convict is admittedly a high bar). There are surely some who believe they can “save” the GOP and lead it to post-MAGA glory. What the party will look like in the future is anyone’s guess.
