We know that just like Blondi, this isn’t going to get very far. Yet the people doing the filing feel there is enough evidence to submit these. They’re certainly all applicable. Unfortunately, because of Hegseth’s ego, he won’t even notice. He’s doing a horrible job as secretary, and we are losing patience. Thanks to Axios via and also to Raw Story:
House Democrats will introduce five articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Wednesday, accusing him of abuse of power, war crimes, and other serious wrongdoing. The measure introduced by Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ), along with eight Democratic co-sponsors, faces virtually no chance of passage in the Republican-controlled Congress but represents the latest Democratic focus on Hegseth as a primary target within President Donald Trump’s cabinet, reported Axios. The five articles center on U.S. military operations in Iran, the “Signalgate” scandal, and Hegseth’s alleged personal misconduct.
Yup, that covers Hegseth pretty well. At least people are making it known and are trying to do something. Once again, we knew back in his Senate hearings that he was in no way fit for the job. No knowledge, minuscule experience, and an ego only slightly smaller than Trump’s. He’s loving this war because he can make things go “splody”.
The first article accuses Hegseth of ordering unauthorized strikes against Iran without congressional approval and of signing off on plans involving “extreme and unnecessary risk” to U.S. personnel, including consideration of ground operations. The second article alleges violations of the Law of Armed Conflict and targeting of civilians, citing the bombing of a girls’ school in Minab, Iran, and reports of “double tap strikes” on alleged Venezuelan drug boats in the Caribbean.
Democrats contend Hegseth’s statements about showing “no quarter, no mercy for our enemies” raise concerns about violations of the Geneva Conventions. The third article addresses the Signalgate scandal, in which Atlantic editor Jeff Goldberg was accidentally added to a secure messaging chat discussing Yemen strikes.
Yes. Unauthorized strikes. Civilians. Geneva Conventions. As far as Hegseth is concerned, it should be SignalGate scandals because he had more than one. His disdain for human lives is wretched. Starting way back with Venezuela, he didn’t care who he killed. He *said* they were “narcoterrorists” but never provided any proof. It doesn’t matter that he’s giving the military illegal orders because no one will push back at him. They’re still illegal. There are rules for war these days, and he is ignoring every single one. The damage is going to be far greater because of him. Now, I may be wrong about the military pushback, and if I am, my sincere apologies.
The fourth article accuses Hegseth of obstructing congressional oversight by failing to provide timely information about military operations and withholding facts about civilian casualties. The fifth article charges Hegseth with conduct damaging to the U.S. military’s reputation, citing the administration’s rollback of diversity and inclusion programs, restrictions on transgender service members, and criticism of NATO.
Pentagon press secretary Kingsley Wilson dismissed the impeachment effort, stating: “This is just another Democrat trying to make headlines as the Department of War decisively and overwhelmingly achieved the President’s objectives in Iran.” She added that Hegseth “will continue to protect the homeland and project peace through strength.”
No, actually, we’re not trying to make headlines. We’re trying to show everyone that Hegseth is a massive [expletive]-up. He’s following right along with Trump in making an all-fired mess of the US. You can’t trust Hegeth either, because there’s no telling what illegal thing he might try to do next. He’s dangerous.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of elderly, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

I have to take exception with part of this quote:
“No knowledge, minuscule experience, and an ego only slightly smaller than Trump’s.”
“Minuscule” suggests he had SOME experience for the job. He had NO experience for the job. Just because he “served” in the military does NOT qualify him for his cabinet position. He got his job because he fluffed Drumpf sufficiently while working at Fox “News.”
Okay, I see your point. No experience for the job, because he was only fluff in the military, and hence is not helpful for where he is now.
