Oh, joy. Is there no way for the military to push back? These orders are dangerous and ignorant besides. And it’s not as if we can afford to lose one, with our forces scattered all over the world. So, who had the bright idea of testing Iran’s limits near the Strait? We know damn well we can’t get through it without a horrible loss of men and equipment, and possibly not even then. We’ll need to ask Denis about that part, so it’s just a guess. Trump is an idiot. Recognition to Raw Story:
A U.S. Navy destroyer headed towards the Strait of Hormuz was issued an imminent threat by Iran on Saturday amid the fragile two-week ceasefire tentatively agreed to between Washington and Tehran, the Hindustan Times reported. “Any US military vessel crossing the Hormuz Strait will be attacked within 30 minutes,” reads a warning directed at the U.S. Navy destroyer, according to the Hindustan Times and other foreign media outlets.
That’s lovely. People in one or the other government are trying to make a mess of this? Or are they trying to incite a reason to get back into war status instead of a very delicate ceasefire? That’s stupid. Iran has a lot more left to throw than we do, as was mentioned earlier today. Just sit tight, folks, let the discussions at least try to work. We’re on shaky ground at the moment.
Axios reporter Barak Ravid claimed on Saturday that U.S. warships had “crossed” the Strait of Hormuz earlier that morning without issue, citing an unnamed “senior U.S. official,” the “first time U.S. warships have crossed the Strait of Hormuz since the war began.” Later, Ravid claimed – again, citing an unnamed senior U.S. official – that the United States had “not received any threat from Iran to attack the ships.”
Where on earth is he getting this information? Show us the *proof*. We’re not willing to believe something just on hearsay. Heck, we might not be willing even with pictures, since those can be created so easily these days. We still need proof. There are many places from the Strait on up in Iran that could easily lob some missiles or drones at said ships. It seems the ship mentioned did turn back, and others got across. Can’t believe that. Iran has turned the Strait of Hormuz into a toll road. Can we please get some fertilizer boats moving through (as Denis spoke about earlier today)?
West Asia News Agency, an Iran-based news outlet, reported Saturday that Iran’s warning was forwarded to a “Pakistani mediator,” with a U.S. delegation including Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner currently in Islamabad, Pakistan, to meet with Iranian officials to negotiate a potential end to the conflict. “If the movement of the ship continues, it will be targeted within 30 minutes, and the Iran-U.S. negotiations will also be damaged,” reads the statement from Iran, per the West Asia News Agency.
Why is Kushner there? He may be pals with some of the Middle East countries, but we’ve never heard a thing about Iran (although it could have happened, and we wouldn’t be particularly surprised). Is there anyone in that entourage who has the slightest idea of how to negotiate? Let’s hope that we have a translator on *our* side with them. In the meantime, keep the ships away from the Strait. Please. Let’s not piss off Iran any further.
If the passage does turn out to be true, I apologize for lacking belief. See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of elderly, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
