Even more so after the psychotic thing he posted earlier. This showed up before I found out about the diatribe, and is worth adding into the equation. We have Trump screwing up with his big mouth earlier this week, and we have someone speaking about the two options to end the war. Trump also, strangely, actually sounded glad our other pilot was rescued. Could someone have hammered into his head that he doesn’t need to be calling them losers and suckers? …. Nah. Thanks to Raw Story here and here:
Democrats are seizing on a new opening against President Donald Trump described as a “political gift,” just months before the midterm elections. The moment was highlighted during a CNN segment on Friday, where New York Times congressional correspondent Annie Karni said Democrats were “agog” at what amounted to a “political gift” handed to them by Trump.
“I’m hearing Democrats can’t believe what they’re hearing from this White House,” Karni said on-air, referencing Trump’s record budget request for defense spending, while also “saying out loud, we can’t pay for daycare, we can’t pay for health care, the states should do that.”
Oh my, my, my. That’s quite a gift. We want more for the military, but we aren’t going to do anything at home except to cut services people need and depend on. Trump has already cut the legs off of Obamacare by refusing to extend the credits. Now? He is saying the Feds won’t help at all because he wants more military supplies. Yannow, if we hadn’t gotten into this war, that might not be needed. There’s a lot of equipment that needs to be replaced. But oof, nothing like Trump shooting himself in the foot. That doesn’t include what he said today. Now, on to Iran exits:
Donald Trump’s war with Iran is set to be a massive failure no matter the outcome, according to a security expert. The president’s administration must either pull out of Iran or declare their mission a success, but both moves would make Trump look weak, The Mirror‘s Christopher Bucktin has claimed. Bucktin wrote, “This is what American leadership looks like now. The post lays bare something far more dangerous than bluster. It shows a man losing control of events, of strategy, and increasingly of himself.
Doesn’t it just? Yesterday, it was mentioned that he is visibly going downhill day by day. After this morning, it looks like hour by hour. It isn’t yet, but it certainly feels that way. No one can keep him under control anymore. Susie is fighting cancer, and she’s the only one who would have even the slightest chance with him. The only ways out make him look weak. Does this mean we’re stuck with a “hurry up and wait” situation? Maybe. If he and Hegseth keep throwing things at Iran, well, that’s not a solution. It’s to the point where we don’t care anymore. We want OUT.
“The Escalator-in-Chief [LOVE IT] has now backed himself into a corner from which there is no easy escape. Either he follows through on his threats – escalating the conflict further, risking a catastrophic regional war that could engulf the Middle East and send shockwaves across the world – or he backs down again, declares some hollow ‘victory‘, and exposes the emptiness of his own rhetoric. Neither path is strong. Both are failures.” Bucktin went on to suggest Trump does not understand that the stakes for the Iran war are so high, and that he has no idea how to bring a conclusion into place.
“For a man who built his image on dominance, this is the ultimate trap,” Bucktin wrote. “Trump has spent a lifetime bullying his way through problems – threatening, bullying, paying off, and walking away. That may have worked in business deals and reality TV theatrics. It does not work on the world stage. Iran is not a contractor to be intimidated.
OUCH. That says it much better than I could hope to. His tactics do not work outside the US, and some are no longer working *in* the US. Unfortunately, some still do. No one in the world will let Trump bully them. Russia bullies *him*. They’re helping Iran and pounding on Ukraine, still. STILL. The world has had enough. It’s all on Trump. I’m dreading the potential escalation. We’re going to start running out of equipment soon. Iran is now taking down planes. They still have the Strait blocked. So, even if we leave the war, what happens there? Is Iran going to charge some exorbitant fee to let ships pass through? A lot of countries need the Strait of Hormuz open, not just America. They have accidentally been caught in Trump’s shite. Now what?
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

I’m thinking the exorbitant fees will probably be reserved for the US and Israel. They’ve already allowed a French container ship passage. So, they do have complete control.
Oh, now *that* is interesting! It gives me a little hope for the other countries. I’ll take it.
I had seen something somewhere that mentioned one million, but can’t remember the rest, including the currency. Oops.
