Good one, dude. We’ve been working with them for a long, long time. Now our buffoon of a ‘president’ has made a mess that we may not ever be able to clean up. According to my friends in the UK, they want nothing to do with Trump or the US, and that’s going to hurt us. The phrase used was ”bugger off”. Ooof. With recognition to Raw Story:
President Donald Trump’s impersonations of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have led to a damaged relationship “beyond repair” between the two countries amid the ongoing Iran war, according to reports on Friday. Trump had mocked Starmer and ridiculed him during an Easter lunch speech at the White House, saying the UK was “not our best” ally after Starmer had reportedly consulted his team about military actions, according to The Guardian. He was apparently angry over the prime minister’s decision to deny the U.S. military use of British military bases during the launch of its air strikes on Iran.
It seems pretty straightforward to me. This is not their war, and they don’t want anything to do with it. Can you blame them? Plus, look at how Trump has screwed the world since Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz. Energy prices continue to rise, and how many people are going to lose their homes if they can’t pay the gas or electric bill? Yes, that’s extreme, but think about it. We’ve already seen prices keep jumping up and up at the gas station. That’s just the start. You know all sorts of things are going to include fuel surcharges. UPS is already doing so, as I discovered recently. They’re huge. What about similar services? Trucking? Or flying?
“Following the latest attack on Starmer, diplomatic and political figures said he was right to brush off the criticism but added that the relationship was very damaged and he would need to redouble efforts to build international relations elsewhere,” The Guardian reported. Trump had also claimed that he had asked the UK for help, but said he was denied that assistance.
“However, Downing Street sources said Trump had never asked the UK for the vessels, and Britain had not offered them,” according to The Guardian. “In previous criticism of Starmer two weeks ago, Trump said Starmer had asked to consult his team about sending minesweepers – not aircraft carriers.”
We can believe PM Starmer any day over Trump. Trump is looking out for himself. We know Trump doesn’t give a damn about our country. PM Starmer is looking out for his country. That’s a huge difference. Trump also doesn’t care about our military. Heaven forbid someone gets shot down (as we‘ve seen), or are suckers and losers for fighting. His shite attitude is well known. But he’s expecting thousands of them to throw their lives away for this illegal war. I still do *not* understand why they are obeying his orders. This is not something we should have done.
Now, Starmer has started to look at improving other diplomatic ties. “One senior diplomat said Starmer was right to ‘essentially ignore‘ Trump and must now attempt to build ties with Canada, Australia and mainland Europe instead, as it was hard to see how the relationship could recover,” The Guardian reported. Starmer called Trump’s comments “quite rude” and shared his thoughts.
“I’m utterly focused on what is in the best interests of our country, and I am unapologetic about that,” Starmer said. “Notwithstanding the pressure that comes from elsewhere, I will remain laser-focused on what is in the British national interest. “And a lot of what is said or done is undoubtedly said and done to put pressure on me; I have no doubt about that. I understand what is going on. But I am not going to be wavering on this.”
Sometimes the people of the UK are far too nice. “Quite rude”, indeed. But then, he isn’t diving down to Trump’s level. That says a lot. Working on other relationships as opposed to the one with the US is a great way to make Trump lose his mind. He’ll bluster and huff and puff, but it won’t make one bit of difference. He brought it on himself. I hope the UK realizes we are not all like Trump.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Trump insults, alienates our allies and then expects them to help clean up his messes. He gets his undies in a twist when they don’t run to his request. I don’t know how a person could be more unrealistic in their expectations.
He just doesn’t get it. He thinks he’s the leader of the world when he’s a jester in a hat looking like an idiot. There is no ‘leading’ about him.
Friends overseas say the population is really, really, really against Trump. They’re sorry it’s reflecting badly on the US, but Trump is dirt in their eyes. The things he’s doing make our *country* look bad because our population put him back in office. We knew it was going to be a disaster of epic proportions, and it has been. For the moment, we’re stuck with him.
I want a t shirt with this saying I saw awhile back, although I don’t know if I would dare wear it in public in a red state. “I am an American and Trump does not speak for me”.
