You could guess from the headline that it’s another Trump piece. Usually, I try to stay away from more than one Trump a day, but he’s sulking and whining and flailing because he got slapped down. Well, I had intended to do this yesterday because it’s oddly funny, and ran out of steam before I could. So, I figured, let’s go ahead and use it anyhow, because why not? My compliments to Raw Story:
A GOP fundraising speech went wildly off track Wednesday as President Donald Trump veered into a vicious attack on Supreme Court justices he appointed. The National Republican Congressional Committee dinner at Washington, D.C.’s Union Station descended into the angry airing of deeply held grievances as Trump lost it against the judges he believes betrayed him by striking down his tariff scheme. “I got a decision on tariffs that’s going to cost our country… hundreds of billions, potentially, of refunds,” he began.
Well, obviously, if he hadn’t created the illegal tariffs, he wouldn’t have to issue refunds. I doubt he ever actually will issue them, of course. The tariffs were a disaster from the get-go. He kept raising them and raising them to “fight back” against countries he thought weren’t paying enough, including the penguins. Look at where it’s put us. Skyrocketing prices, inflation, and you know that no one’s going to bring their prices back down, right? I’m not even sure that “screaming” about it would do one bit of good. Now we’re just waiting for the economy to collapse.
“Giving them back to people that have been ripping off our country because the Supreme Court didn’t want to put one little sentence that all money taken in up ’til this date doesn’t have to be paid back. Going to cost us hundreds of billions of dollars. So sad to see. Courts, bad courts in this country, are costing us a tremendous amount of money.
And the Supreme Court, that’s right, of the United States, cost our country — all they needed was a sentence — hundreds of billions of dollars, and they couldn’t care less. They couldn’t care less.” The court’s 6-3 decision in February found Trump had overstepped his authority by imposing wide-ranging tariffs.
I wonder how many people had to stifle their laughter when he went off on that. Dimwit Donnie can’t see that he set tariffs illegally. He continues to think that whatever he wants, he should get. He can’t tell (or won’t listen) about how “his” tariffs put our country on the highway to hell. I do wonder how much of that money he was able to direct into his own pockets. He doesn’t give a damn about laws. Having SCOTUS say “oh, HAIL NO” must have been quite a shock. Too bad it didn’t put him in the hospital. Think about his heart rate and blood pressure.
Following the ruling, Trump called the justices “lap dogs,” a “disgrace to our nation,” and “disloyal to the Constitution.” He also accused them of being influenced by foreign interests and “slimeballs” from other countries. When speaking to reporters, Trump stated, “The Supreme Court’s ruling on tariffs is deeply disappointing, and I’m ashamed of certain members of the Court — absolutely ashamed for not having the courage to do what’s right for our country.”
in a lengthy Truth Social post weeks later, Trump suggested the ruling “mattered most to me” and was responsible for the U.S. being in “such major decline.” Roberts responded to those attacks during a public appearance, saying, “Judges around the country work very hard to get it right, and if they don’t, their opinions are subject to criticism. But personally directed hostility is dangerous, and it’s got to stop.”
It’s ironic. They *were* his “lap dogs”. *He* is the disgrace to our nation and disloyal to the Constitution. *He* is influenced by foreign interests and slimeballs. *He* does not dare to do what’s right for our country, or he wouldn’t have pulled this crap in the first place. It’s pot calling the kettle black, except SCOTUS didn’t return the name-calling. Trump said exactly what he does and how he thinks, trying to blame it on the court. And holy hail, yes, the hostility is dangerous because someone could take it into their head to go “do something” about the people that he says he’s mad at. That would be a disaster. Shut up, Trumpty. You have no room to talk, and we’re tired of your inanity.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
