[Disclaimer: rant incoming.] What *is* it with this egomaniacal excuse for a president? He wants to remake *everything* in his own image? He’s going to pass on within a couple of years, and some things can’t be restored because they’ve been decimated. All because of a whining, babbling man-baby who thinks he owns the United States. We all know the list, starting with the ersatz Rose Garden Mar-A-Slobo patio. We may not get Jackie’s original flowers back, but we can at least rip up the stupid patio and try to rebuild it. I fervently hope someone does so. Then the East Wing and the Kennedy Center. He doesn’t give a damn about history. My respects to Raw Story:
President Donald Trump has reportedly discussed his next possible major renovations to the White House: turning the historic Treaty Room into a bedroom suite with a bathroom. The New York Times first reported that Trump was prepared to undertake “one of the most significant renovations in the history of the White House.”
“The Treaty Room — which is separate from the Indian Treaty Room in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building — is one of the most historic rooms in the White House. Presidents Ulysses S. Grant and William McKinley used it as a Cabinet room, and it was where the Spanish-American War peace protocol of 1898, and the nuclear test ban treaty of 1963, were signed,” the paper noted.
That just pisses me the eff off. They have about a gazillion bedrooms in that place. They don’t need to wreck a piece of history because Trump wants another bedroom with an attached bath! There’s no *reason* for it. There’s no use for another bedroom that couldn’t be handled elsewhere! We all know it’s going to be decimated in Trump’s gaudy, repulsive image! Once it’s gone, it’s GONE. And how much is this costing, anyhow?
White House spokesperson Davis Ingle defended the president’s desire to remodel the people’s house in his image. “President Trump is the builder-in-chief with an extraordinary eye for detail and design, and his bold vision will be imprinted upon the fabric of the America and be felt by generations to come,” Ingle explained. “His successes will continue to give the White House glory it deserves.” Commission of Fine Arts Rodney Mims Cook Jr. confirmed that the president had talked to him about turning the Treaty Room into a bedroom in February.
Does anyone have a way to stop this? His “bold vision”? *He* can remodel the People’s House? It’s NOT Trump’s house. It’s where he is temporarily residing. HIS house is in Florida, and he can go back there any time now! I’m not even sure there’s a legal way to block it. He should be happy with his damn ballroom, not decimating the White House! Renovations are one thing. Destroying history is completely different!
“He wants to add a bathroom, improve the room,” Mr. Cook told the Times. Trump has also remodeled the bathroom connected to the Lincoln Bedroom in marble and gold, and is building a 90,000-square-foot ballroom that will cost around $400 million. A new security 33,000-square-foot screening center for visitors is planned.
Gotta love that last sentence. 33,000 square feet for a screening center. Why? Is it because somewhere in the back of his tiny little brain, he knows half of America is pissed at and with him? Nahhhh. He’s too egotistical to worry about that sort of thing. Plus, Secret Service. But still, why? This *infuriates* me, and I don’t get it. I’m still torn between crying and screaming. Please let someone get the history, as much as possible, out of that room before he tears it up. Please. It’s unlikely that anything was saved in the East Wing. Let’s not make it 2 for 2. I don’t get Trump’s bold vision hooey either. Spare us!
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
