This is actually from a couple of days ago, but it’s still worth mentioning. Tulsi is nearly on a Trump level of dodging and dancing around a subject. That takes talent, though it’s not the kind we need. What we need is truth. It’s hard to find in this administration. There’s a certain amount of back-and-forth with anyone and everyone. That’s just the way it goes. The simplest thing might be to say that you don’t want to answer the question, or you don’t have enough information to answer the question. Tulsi flat-out refused to answer *anything*. This one was pretty straightforward. Surely it can’t be *that* difficult. Thank you, Raw Story:

[EDIT: Oooo ta! Here’s another interesting tidbit from the 17th that you can check out later.]

Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) pushed National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard to answer questions about President Donald Trump’s knowledge of economic fallout prior to the Iran war during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Wednesday. Gabbard tried to dodge his questions over what prompted the military strikes in Iran, and she appeared to contradict Trump’s justifications and objectives behind launching the joint U.S.-Israeli operation.

Dodging the question. Gosh, whyever could she be doing that? She screwed up is the first reason to come to mind. We already have a hint that outdated intelligence likely caused the attack on the girls’ school. Could she have had hints that Iran would close the Strait of Hormuz? Or was that something that completely blindsided everyone? So many questions, and she couldn’t (wouldn’t) answer a very simple one.

“Was it the intelligence community’s assessment that, nevertheless, despite this obliteration, there was a, quote, imminent nuclear threat posed by the Iranian regime? Yes or no?” Ossoff asked. “It is not the intelligence community’s responsibility to determine what is and is not an imminent threat. That is up to the president based on a volume of information that he receives,” Gabbard said. (say WHAT?) Ossoff pushed back on Gabbard’s claims. “No, it is precisely your responsibility to determine what constitutes a threat to the United States,” Ossoff said.

“This is the worldwide threats hearing where, as you noted in your opening testimony quote, you represent the IC’s assessment of threats. You are here to represent the IC’s assessment of threats. That’s a quote from your own opening statement. And so, my question is, as you’re here to present the IC’s assessment of threats, was it the assessment of the intelligence community that, as the White House claimed on March 1st, there was a, quote, imminent nuclear threat posed by the Iranian regime, yes or no?”

Tulsi won’t answer. This could also be an “I don’t know” response, disturbing as that is. It also seems that she may not want to contradict Dumba$$ Donnie. Or, the nuclear threat from Iran was (is?) not nearly as bad as it was made to sound? If I remember correctly, I’m pretty sure that the big-deal bombing run didn’t do anything but blow up the outside of the facilities in the mountains. (Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.) Iran certainly had enough advance notice to move everything. Was the intel faulty for that?

“Once again, senator, the intelligence community has provided the inputs that make up this annual threat assessment,” Gabbard said, not answering Ossoff’s question. //// “You won’t answer the question,” Ossoff said. //// “It is the nature of the imminent threat that the president has to make that determination based on a collection and volume of information and intelligence that he is provided with,” Gabbard said.

Ossoff interjected with a sharp response. “You’re here to be timely, objective, and independent of political considerations,” Ossoff said. //// “That’s exactly what I’m doing,” Gabbard responded. //// Ossoff then called Gabbard out, alleging that she was not answering questions honestly. “No, you’re evading a question because to provide a candid response to the committee would contradict a statement from the White House,” Ossoff said.

That’s another non-answer, although it might be a CYA so she doesn’t lose her cushy job. And I’m sure that Pootie is quite happy with all the information she’s feeding him, especially since we know he’s helping Iran. Damn, I detest that SOB. Well, Tulsi has certainly got her Trumpisms down pat. We don’t know what else happened in that meeting, but it seems likely she never answered the question. It’s something so simple to be buried under a hill of virtual beans. Tulsi has kept so quiet, we really have no idea what she and/or her people are doing. That’s concerning. What else does she have that’s unknown and should be given to us?

See you soon!

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
