Yes, I was hoping for this. Someone decided to slap back at Carr, and wow, did he ever! The piece from yesterday showed you the bonkers attitude Brendan has toward legacy media and Trump. If you say anything bad about Trump, you’re off the air. What kind of a statement is that? No one can have an opinion anymore. No one can tell the whole story from every angle. Why doesn’t he just say all Trump all the time? Anyone would start struggling within a week of trying to kiss his orange tin god ass 24/7. There isn’t *that* much information. A Democratic congressman on Saturday issued a stern warning to a Trump official seen as threatening overreach on Free Speech in the media. Trump’s pick, Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Brendan Carr,  issued a warning of his own to broadcast media outlets over the weekend.
In a statement, Carr declared: “Broadcasters that are running hoaxes and news distortions – also known as the fake news – have a chance now to correct course before their license renewals come up. The law is clear. Broadcasters must operate in the public interest, and they will lose their licenses if they do not.”
Bonkers. It seems the public interest doesn’t cover the things Trump does wrong, no matter how obvious they may be. What’s wrong with that picture? And by the way, *can* the media cover anything besides Trump? There are many events in the world that it would be good to know about. As an example, it would be prudent to keep an eye on China, especially with the damn Iran war. There’s a lot they could do to take advantage of it.
Carr’s comments represented an unprecedented direct threat by a Trump administration official to use regulatory authority over media licensing as a tool to influence news coverage. One Democratic lawmaker pointed out as much in a post using some profanity.
Congressman Ted Lieu responded to the FCC head, writing, “Dear @BrendanCarrFCC: If you implement your flagrantly anti-First Amendment actions, you will be sued, and you will lose. And legal discovery will be awesome. Because the American people can then find out what the Administration keeps hiding.”
Lieu then added, “Take your fascist s— and shove it.”
I *like* his thinking! And it seems Brendan was NOT thinking about anything else except for what Trump wants. No matter how hard Trump tries, he can’t (we hope) take away the First Amendment of freedom of speech. Threats and bluster have not worked before, and it’s unlikely they’ll work now. We are (mostly) not the sheep Brendan and Trump think we are. They’re finding that out.

Carr was, ironically and inadvertently, defining all the rightwing propaganda outlets which spew Trumpler’s bullshit 24/7. They are and always have been the original Fake News. Our 1st Amendment will survive, assuming we all fight for it, and I wonder if these Trump bootlickers realise that a future non-GOP administration will use all their ammo against them.
